A Tesla’s security camera captured the moment a man savagely stabbed at its rear tire in a seemingly random act of violence.
Syana Segura was left horrified after discovering her Tesla Model Y had been brutally vandalized in July of this year.
Segura, who lives in the Chicago suburb Oak Forest, shared two views of the incident – one from her neighbors home and the other from her Tesla’s cameras.
Three men can be seen walking down the residential street, as one of them dressed in all black loiters around the vehicle.
The home surveillance shows him lurch down behind the driver side of the rear of the vehicle, before he then quickly runs away.
Video footage captured by the vehicle shows the man in black force a large knife into the tire.
After making a cut in the rubber, he then stabs it twice as he flees the scene – with his two accomplices also seen quickly scampering.
Sharing the footage onto her TikTok account, Segura added: ‘Got a notification that I had low tire pressure on my Tesla.
‘Came out to neighbors who had footage of vandalism. Love Tesla & their amazing security.’
It remains unclear if Segura managed to track down the man or reported the incident to police. DailyMail.com has approached her for more information.
Since she shared the footage, it has been viewed nearly 500,000 times with viewers sharing their disgust in the comments about the incident.
One person commented: ‘Does he not know there are 7 cameras recording on the Model Y?’
Another added: ‘Why are they always attacking Teslas like duh, you know they have cameras all around.’
One other posted: ‘What was the point of him doing that? Sorry that happened to you.’
Tesla vehicles come equipped with Sentry Mode which when enabled allows the cameras and sensors onboard the car remain powered on.
In February of this year a would be carjacker in California was caught by the security system and realized he was being recorded half way through the break in.
The would-be thief can be seen suddenly realizing he’s being recorded by the Cybertruck, covering his face before he tries to smash in through the truck’s roof.
Despite the attempts, the thief doesn’t stand a chance thanks to the cars ‘armored glass windows’, another security feature of the brand.
