Terrified children ran for cover as shots were fired near a school bus stop in Louisville, Kentucky, that wounded at least one person.

An adult female was shot and was transported to University Hospital in an unknown condition, police said.

No arrests have been made and the Louisville Metro Police Department said there are ‘no outstanding suspects at this time’.

The shooting unfolded Wednesday around 8am near a school bus stop.

Terrified children were reportedly seen running to safety amid the chaos.

The shooting occurred near a bus stop, located near to the Coleridge-Taylor Montessori Elementary School and Central High School.

The elementary was briefly placed on lockdown following the shooting, but it has since been reopened.

Early reports indicated that up to three shooters may have been involved, but the Louisville Police Department told Daily Mail that was not accurate.

The incident comes just days after another shooting occurred near the same location on West Chestnut Street on August 7.

In that shooting, a 15-year-old boy was accused of opening fire on a school bus stop as students prepared for the first day back at school.

He did not injure anyone, but was charged with 33 counts of first-degree wanton endangerment and one count of possession of a handgun by a minor.

This is a developing story, please check back for updates.
