Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine was released on bond Thursday after a Dominican Republic judge found that the evidence brought forward by prosecutors was not enough to keep him in jail following his arrest on domestic violence.
The 27-year-old rapper, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, had been in custody in Santo Domingo since January 17 after Wanda Díaz, the mother of his girlfriend and rapper, Yailin La Más Viral, accused him of assaulting them both last year.
Yailin La Más Viral, whose real name is Georgina Guillermo, countered her mother’s claims during a hearing before Judge Fátima Veloz and said that Tekashi had never physically assaulted her.
Veloz imposed a bail of 30,000 pesos (about $509) during the proceedings against Tekashi.
Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine was granted his release from a Dominican Republic jail on a $509 bond after a judge found that prosecutors did not have enough evidence to keep him in prison after Wanda Díaz, said that the artist beat her and her daughter, rapper Yailin La Más Viral
Yailin La Más Viral told a Dominican Republic judge that Tekashi never assaulted her during a court hearing stemming from a domestic violence accusation brought forward by her mother
The New York native rapper is barred from leaving the country without permission from a judge and must present himself in court every two months.
Díaz, who did not attend the hearing because she was feeling ill because of a complication from a cosmetic surgery, accused Tekashi of beating her and Yailin Las Más Viral.
Díaz spoke during a live YouTube stream of Alofoke Radio Show moments after Tekashi was arrested while he was attempting to leave the country and revealed that he assaulted them after she tried to stop him from beating her daughter.
‘One time I was with her, they were arguing, he pushed me, he slammed me because I got involved, because he hit my daughter,’ she said. ‘I was thrown to the ground. (Tekashi’s) security did not do anything. I was there telling him not to continue beating my daughter and he kept on and I got involved.’
Tekashi’ lawyer, Waldo Paulino, told a gaggle of media members outside the courtroom that Díaz was being dishonest after the judged ordered a recess to allow the defense to present additional evidence.
‘The evidence they presented against Tekashi is not valid as established in the law,’ Paulino said. ‘Wanda has said a lie against Daniel Hernández.’

Waldo Paulino, who is part of Tekashi’s legal defense team in the Dominican Republic, said that there is not enough evidence to charge the rapper with domestic violence
Last week’s arrest is Hernández’s latest brush with the law in the Dominican Republic.
He was arrested at a seaside hotel in the Dominican Republic in October after being accused of assaulting local music producers, Cristian Rojas y Nelson Hilario.
Surveillance camera footage obtained by TMZ showed five people, several of them wearing ski masks. Police alleged that one of the individuals who appears in the video is Tekashi, could be seen walking in and out of the recording studio, where he and Yailin La Más Viral had been working.
A video that captured the moment Tekashi was arrested showed he was Hernandez’s wearing a black ski mask.
Tekaki was also previously accused in the U.S. of using a violent gang as a ‘personal hit squad,’ but he avoided prison after providing testimony against the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods, which operate in the U.S. East Coast.
In March 2023, he was assaulted by several people at a gym in Florida.
Tekashi 6ix9ine had a multiplatinum hit song, ‘Fefe,’ with Nicki Minaj in 2018. It peaked at No. 3 on the pop charts.
In 2015, Hernandez pleaded guilty to a count of use of a child in a sexual performance and received a four-year probation period.
And then in 2018, he was arrested on racketeering and other weapons and drug charges – leaving him facing a minimum of 47 years in prison.
