With the second season of Taylor Swift’s affiliation to the NFL one sleep away, her presence at games has more Americans interested in the sport.

Last season, Swift’s romance with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce took the world by storm. 

With the couple catching headlines daily, the NFL became a beneficiary to the pop star’s colossal, cult-like fanbase trickling into the games and tuning in to get a glimpse of their idol.

After her impact was greatly felt by the ticket sales and viewership numbers, LendingTree surveyed to determine the Swift effect’s extent this season.

With 2000 fans participating in the study, LendingTree concluded that 17 percent of Americans are more interested in watching the NFL because of the pop star. Men are more likely to agree with the statement at 22 percent, while 13 percent of women are on board.

As for the rest of the pie chart, another 17 percent said they have less interest because of Swift while the remaining 66 percent’s opinion remains unchanged. 

Her presence has also expanded the NFL’s reach to younger generations as 25 percent of Generation Z says Swift influenced their consumption of the league.

On the flip side, 44 percent of the subjects say they hate what Swift has done to the NFL. Nonetheless, 14 percent of the fanbase intends to spend more money this season because of Swift.

Survey results aside, the NFL has cashed in on Swift’s impact after seeing the growth last season.

Swift dominated a new promo for the 2024 NFL season ahead of this week’s opening round of games. In a 30-second promo, the pop star appeared on screen five times, taking from the athletes and leaving many fans furious.

Kelce and the Chiefs will open the season on Thursday by hosting the Baltimore Ravens on their quest for a third straight title.
