Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have announced their engagement after a secret proposal two weeks ago.

The pop icon and the NFL star, both 35, who have been dating for two years, officially revealed their marriage news on Tuesday with a romantic photoshoot showing Kelce proposing in a rose garden.

Daily Mail has confirmed Kelce actually got down on one knee earlier this month.

Swift captioned the post: ‘Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.’

The Grammy winner also revealed her mammoth diamond engagement ring in the post – the stunning band is an Old Mine Brilliant Cut and appears to be from Kindred Lubeck at Artifex Fine Jewelry. It is worth an estimated $675,000 to $1 million.

The star shared the post on her Instagram, set to the ballad So High School, which is about her enduring love for Kelce.

The couple went public with their relationship in September 2023 when the singer appeared alongside Kelce’s mother, Donna, at a Kansas City Chiefs game. 

Since that day their romance has captivated the world, with Swift supporting Kelce’s run to two Super Bowls while the NFL star has traveled alongside her around the globe on her wildly successful Eras tour.

The sports star’s close friend Patrick Mahomes was quick to congratulate the couple, sharing Swift’s post on Instagram with three heart emojis.

In the wake of the announcement, Swift, Kelce and her hit Love Story began trending.

Swift’s longtime pals, supermodel Gigi Hadid, Karlie Kloss, and Cara Delevingne were quick to like the post, showing support from her girl squad. 

But Blake Lively was absent from the list of likes, continuing a rocky chapter in her friendship with the Shake It Off singer. 

The tension between the former friends blew up after Swift’s name got dragged into Lively’s 2024 legal battle with Justin Baldoni – his lawyers claimed Lively tried to ‘coerce’ Swift into a public statement and delete texts —and even though a subpoena was later dropped, the drama clearly left its mark. 

Fans were quick to spot clues that the singer knew what was about to come as she and Kelce donned matching Ralph Lauren outfits.

Swift wore a $400 striped silk-blend dress by Ralph Lauren for her proposal, which featured a ruched top and halter neckline.

Swift tied her simple look together with one of her favorite jewelry pieces, which was a gold Santos Demoiselle Watch by Cartier.

The engagement news comes just almost two weeks after Swift announced her new album, The Life of a Showgirl, on the Kelce brothers’ podcast, New Heights – and gave her most candid interview ever 

The pair first confirmed their romance in September 2023 – they are pictured in January 2025 

The watch costs $18,330, according to the Taylor Swift Styled Instagram page.

Prior to Kelce, Swift was in a six-year romance with actor Joe Alwyn, 34, which ended in April 2023. She then briefly dated The 1975 frontman Matty Healy, 36. 

The engagement news comes almost two weeks after Swift announced her new album, The Life of a Showgirl, on the Kelce brothers’ podcast, New Heights.

In her most candid chat ever, Swift admitted she thought Kelce was ‘crazy’ for asking her out so publicly. 

The sportsman famously spoke on his podcast about attending one of Swift’s concerts in July 2023 and being disappointed when they couldn’t meet, revealing he’d even brought a friendship bracelet to give to her.

She compared Kelce to a John Hughes movie character, joking he was outside her window with a boombox yelling: ‘I wanna date you! Do you wanna go on a date with me? I made you a friendship bracelet. Do you wanna date me?’ 

Swift said: ‘I was like, if this guy isn’t crazy — which is a big if — this is sort of what I’ve been writing songs about wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager.’ 

Kelce’s brother Jason went on to ask the Fearless hitmaker: ‘How did you know he wasn’t crazy?’ to which she replied: ‘He is crazy, Jason. He’s the good kind of crazy.’

Even President Donald Trump had warm wishes for the couple, telling reporters during a cabinet meeting at the White House:  ‘Well I wish them a lot of luck. I think he’s a great player and a great guy and I think she’s a terrific person so I wish them a lot of luck.’

Tight end Kelce first made his interest in Swift known in July 2023 when he attended the US leg of Swift’s record-breaking Eras Tour at Arrowhead Stadium, the home of his team, the Kansas City Chiefs. 

He later revealed on New Heights that he tried and failed to meet Swift after the show.

He then explains he’d made a special friendship bracelet – fans trade them at her shows, referencing a lyric from her track You’re On Your Own Kid – with his number on it, but hadn’t been able to give it to her. ‘She doesn’t meet anybody, or at least she didn’t want to meet me, so I took it personal,’ he said.

In September 2023, Swift very publicly confirmed her interest, making a surprise appearance at the Kansas City Chiefs v Chicago Bears game. 

The two were pictured leaving the stadium together, in an open-top convertible.

The next month Swift and Kelce confirmed their relationship by arriving hand-in-hand at the SNL afterparty.

The couple also went Instagram official with Swift planting a kiss on Kelce’s cheek in a photo shared by Chariah Gordon, girlfriend of Chiefs player Mecole Hardman.

In November 2023, Kelce attended Swift’s  Eras Tour concert in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

In the final act of the concert Swift changed the lyrics of her song to: ‘Karma is the guy on the Chiefs coming straight home to me,’ (previously the lyrics talked of ‘the guy on the screen’) which drove fans wild.

She then shared her first public kiss with Kelce when she was videoed running backstage after the show and straight into his arms.

The pair’s romance became extremely public in January 2024 when Swift rushed onto the field to congratulate Kelce after the Chiefs secured their spot in the Super Bowl. 

Kelce was heard whispering: ‘Tay, I’m going to enjoy it with the guys. I love you. So much, it’s not funny.’

The next month and hours after closing the Asian leg of the Eras Tour, Swift arrived to support Kelce at the Super Bowl. 

She and her entourage – including former BFF Blake Lively, Ice Spice and Lana Del Rey – cheered the Chiefs on to win the biggest prize in American football.

One picture sparked engagement rumors after eagle-eyed Swifties spotted Kelce’s lock screen – which showed Swift holding her hand up 

In June 2024 Kelce made a shock onstage cameo at Swift’s Eras Tour concert at London’s Wembley Stadium.

Swift also shared an Instagram photo of the couple backstage meeting Prince William, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, captioned: ‘I’m still cracking up/swooning over @killatrav’s Eras Tour debut.’

Days later, Kelce appeared on the Bussin’ With the Boys podcast and talked about the moment he knew he was in love with Swift. ‘The first game she came to against the Bears, I was like, “I could probably set you up with everything,”’ he said. 

‘And she just walked through the front door. There was no going down, talking to security … She was just like, “I want to be around the family and friends and experience this with everybody.”‘

In September 2024 their romance was rocked when documents supposedly outlining a ‘break-up strategy’ orchestrated by Kelce’s PR team started circulating on the internet, but the footballer’s reps quickly denied them.

‘These documents are entirely false and fabricated and were not created, issued, or authorized by this agency,’ a spokesperson said. 

‘We have engaged our legal team to initiate proceedings against the individuals or entities responsible for the unlawful and injurious forgery of documents.’

Days later, the couple put on a united front at the 2024 US Open.

Swift and Kelce were seen packing on the PDA and singing along to I Believe in a Thing Called Love by The Darkness.

On September 11 2024, Swift gave her boyfriend a shout-out at the VMAs, when she accepted the Video of the Year award. 

‘This video seems very sad when you watch it, but it was actually the most fun video to make,’ she says. 

‘I would always just hear someone cheering, like, “Whoo!” from across the studio – that one person was my boyfriend, Travis. Everything this man touches turns to happiness and fun and magic, so I want to thank him for adding that to our shoot.’ 

In December 2024 friends share pictures of Swift and Kelce dancing and packing on PDA at an Eras Tour wrap party. 

Engagement rumors fly after one snap shows Swift covering her ring finger, but a source told the Daily Mail at the time : ‘Taylor and Travis find it extremely humorous that they have been engaged every day since they got together.’

‘They are both aware of the fact that the whole world is so thirsty for them to be engaged and, while Taylor does want a white wedding one day, her friends just feel like people need to chill and let them be a couple.’

In July 2025 Kelce made it official, sharing a 13-slide post of his off-season adventures, most also featuring Swift. 

They’re seen on a beach getaway, at an intimate dinner, on a snowy ice skating trip, and at parties with family and friends. 

In a GQ cover story, Kelce speaks candidly about his relationship with Swift. ‘Whenever I’m with her, it feels like we’re just regular people,’ he says.

‘When there is not a camera on us, we’re just two people that are in love. It can be perceived as something else because of how much it is talked about and how much we are tracked whenever we do go out, but I would say that… it happened very organically, even though from a media standpoint it was being tracked. It still happened very organically.’
