Tanya Hennessy has debuted her new look on the cover of Stellar magazine, proudly flaunting her slimmed down figure in a chic black leather coat and pointed stilettos.
But the media personality’s striking transformation comes with a deeply personal story, as she opened up about the physical and emotional toll of undergoing fertility treatment for the past five years.
The 39-year-old revealed she is currently in the middle of her seventh round of IVF, a gruelling journey that has tested her in ways she never anticipated.
‘As someone who’s so attuned to working hard and getting what they want, it’s really hard. I can’t outwork infertility,’ she told the magazine.
Tanya said she made the decision to lose weight rapidly out of necessity, explaining that time was against her as she began IVF at 34 and is now approaching 40.
While she’s aware the change in her appearance has drawn attention, she isn’t surprised by the public reaction.

‘I feel different, but I also understand why people want to comment on it, because I look different. I get it,’ she admitted.
Reflecting on her weight gain, Tanya explained it had crept on during the height of her career, when stress and poor eating habits became the norm.
She said she put on 50 kilograms over a couple of years as work took precedence over her health.
In her interview, the radio host and comedian also pushed back against society’s obsession with appearance, saying she would prefer to be recognised for her creativity rather than her body.
‘Can we just not talk about my body at all? Can I just be a creative being who is not their body?’ she asked.
Tanya also shed light on the less visible struggles of IVF, revealing that she has continued working through heartbreaking moments, including miscarriages and intense hormone treatments that left her feeling overwhelmed while on set.
She said there were days when she was bleeding, crying, and barely holding it together, but still had to perform in front of the camera.
Tanya explained her reason for going public with her fertility battle, saying it was important for people to understand the long, painful nature of the process.

Hennessy said her story isn’t the neatly packaged narrative people often expect – where a woman shares her struggles and is miraculously pregnant weeks later.
‘It’s not solved, it’s a process. It’s not, “Oh, Tanya said she had infertility struggles, two weeks later she’s pregnant.” It’s “Tanya says she had an infertility problem, five years later, she’s still experiencing it.” That is important to see,’ she said.
