Two fire crews were sent onto the water to tackle the boat from up close, one on a NSW Ports Authority tug boat and the other on a police vessel.

Another three hand lines worked from the shore to extinguish the flames.

Crews got the fire under control at 11am before relocating the cruiser to the western side of the marina for complete extinguishment.

Specialist hazmat technicians are expected to inspect the boat once there is no longer a threat onboard.

There was nobody on the cruiser at the time the fire broke out and it is not known if its owners were present at the marina during the fire.
