Residents have been locked down in a Brisbane suburb as police continue a tense stand-off with a man believed to be armed.
Police were called to a house on Peter Street, in Strathpine just after 1am on Tuesday in relation to a disturbance.
Upon arrival, officers immediately began negotiating with the man who was alone inside the house.
An emergency situation was declared just after 4am, with an exclusion zone being set up on Gertrude Street, Peter Street, Rowland Street and Cavendish Street.

Residents have been advised to avoid the area and those within the exclusion zone are asked to remain indoors until further notice.
Traffic diversions are in place.
The incident is reportedly related to domestic violence, with an alleged victim, a woman, managing to escape, the Courier Mail reported.
