Spotify is raising its prices for n subscribers by $1, going from A$12.99 per month to A$13.99 per month. 

‘We’re increasing the price of Premium Individual so we can continue bringing you the best experience,’ the company said.

‘You’ll continue to get the benefits that you know and love today, like ad-free music listening and downloading to listen offline.

‘Starting on your billing date in May, your subscription price will change from A$12.99/month to A$13.99/month.’

It comes after the streaming giant announced it would hike the price of its premium packages in last July.

The price of Spotify’s new basic subscription tier has increased by 10 per cent.

Premium individual subscriptions will now cost $13.99/month (up from $12.99/month)

The price rises to its Premium Individual and Duo packages – of $1 and $2 per month respectively – came into force in September. 

‘The price of Premium Individual is changing from A$11.99/month to A$12.99/month,’ the streaming giant said in a statement.

‘We’re increasing the price of Premium Individual so that we can continue to invest in and innovate on our product offerings and features, and bring you the best experience.’

The price of Spotify’s Premium Duo subscription package also increased from $15.99/month to $17.99/month. 

Spotify is the latest online service to recently hike its prices, following Apple Music, Amazon Prime, Disney Plus and Netflix, among others.

Around the board, all major music streamers have upped their prices in , with Apple leading the pack in October 2022.

The price of Apple Music was increased to $12.99 per month, which had previously been $11.99 per month.

At the same time Apple TV also saw an increase of $2, going from $7.99 per month to $9.99 per month.

Tidal, the streamer formerly owned by Jay-Z but now in the hands of former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, held off raising their prices until July 2023.

The change is set to go into effect in August and will see listeners similarly paying an extra dollar per month, going from $11.99 to $12.99 per month.

For those using streaming services to binge TV shows and movies, each of the major players in that area have also increased their prices in recent months.

The single largest price hike has come from Amazon Prime who have increased their rates by 43 per cent, jumping from $6.99 to $9.99 per month.

Amazon is still the cheapest of the bunch, with the dearest being Netflix.

The streaming giant not only increased its basic subscription tier from $15.99 to $16.99 in monthly costs, but also cracked down hard on password sharing.
