Spencer Matthews revealed that he ‘can’t wait’ to see his wife Vogue Williams after he completed his ninth marathon in a row for Global’s Make Some Noise in the Jordanian desert on his 36th birthday.

Appearing on Heart Breakfast with JK and Kelly Brook on Tuesday, Spencer, 36, admitted that he misses his wife dearly.

While discussing his wife Vogue, 38, and her thoughts on the marathon, Spencer confessed that the couple get in ‘touch’ when they can, however, there’s ‘very bad service’ where he is.

JK said: ‘Spencer, thank you so much, you’re an absolute hero for doing what you’re doing. What is Vogue thinking of this as the moment?’

To which Spencer honestly replied with: ‘Ah you know, we’re in touch when we can be. There’s very bad service, signal where we are, but when I do…’

JK and Kelly comforted Spencer by claiming the service was fine on their end.

JK said: ‘Oh yeah, whatever! I mean, the service has been totally fine this morning, Spencer.’

While Kelly confessed: ‘Crystal clear!’

Spencer then joked before admitting: ‘I’ve got radio to do, my friend! Especially for you! No, no. So we don’t have the luxury of driving to villages usually. I’ve come to be able to speak with you guys clearly.’

‘No, I speak to Vogue when I can. I love her so much, really miss her. I think she’s more comfortable than she was before, with nine in the bag, and I can’t wait to see her.’

Heart Breakfast then revealed Spencer’s birthday surprise live on air by confessing to him that one of his partnering brands – Vitamin and protein bar, Fulfil – has doubled the donations tally for the challenge to over £100,000.

Kelly said: ‘Because it’s your birthday, our friends at Fulfil – who have been partnering with you on your journey – have said they are going to double the amount that we’ve raised for you, which is £50,000 that our listeners have kindly donated.’

She added: ‘So, at the moment, you’re looking at £108,493 that has been raised.’

Spencer, who appeared incredibly shocked and grateful at the news, expressed his gratitude by saying: ‘That is phenomenal! My goodness, thank you so much to Fulfil. I mean, it’s a bit of a dream that they came on board, to be honest.’

He added: ‘I’ve loved Fulfil as a brand, their protein and vitamin bars, for a really long time, and used them throughout my whole training block. To be honest, that’s insanely kind of them and I couldn’t be more delighted to be partnered with them.’

Spencer also admitted that he feels ‘incredibly privileged’ to be able to run in the marathons in the desert.

While Kelly admitted that the money raised is going to make a ‘huge difference’ to all of the small charities, Spencer said: ‘I had the great pleasure of meeting four or five of those incredible small charities.’

‘And I actually feel incredibly privileged to be in this position to be able to run in these marathons in this part of the world. It’s quite physically demanding.’

It comes after Spencer revealed his ‘shocking’ relationship with alcohol left him feeling ‘ashamed’ but he’s now in the ‘best shape of his life’ after undergoing ultramarathon training.

The former Made In Chelsea star quit booze in 2018 after admitting filming the E4 reality series had exacerbated his inability to drink healthily.

In an exclusive interview with , Spencer says he feels guilt-ridden looking back at his previous behaviour with alcohol, which he gave up to protect his seven-year marriage to Vogue.

Podcast host Spencer has not only overhauled his lifestyle from party boy to fitness fanatic but he’s now challenged himself with running 30 marathons in 30 days on sand as he aims to complete a Guinness World Record.

Despite wife Vogue’s reservations, Spencer insists he’s never been more prepared for a task of this magnitude after training in a heat chamber, cutting out ultra-processed foods and taking supplements that have transformed his body and physical capabilities.

Spencer said: ‘I have come from having a shocking relationship with alcohol and feeling quite ashamed of myself actually to now being in a position where I’m really happy and comfortable.’

‘The things that have made a big difference to my overall health are hardly ever drinking, minimal amounts of alcohol, exercise, good sleep and proper supplements. I feel in the best shape of my life and I’m very happy.’

‘I’m at that stage in my life where I really want to push the boundaries and explore what’s physically and mentally possible. I have always been a big Bear Grylls fan and people that push themselves to their limits and now I want to do the same.’

The incredible challenge helps him to feel ‘closer’ to his brother Michael, who never returned after becoming the youngest British climber to summit Mount Everest.

But after learning of the potential risks, Spencer wanted to ensure he was ready for the mission ahead, saying his Great Desert Challenge is even harder than running the full length of Africa, which was achieved for the first time by Russ Cook, otherwise known as the Hardest Geezer, earlier this year.

Spencer said: ‘At the moment I am running a marathon every couple of days in my training block. The week I am heading into now is marathon, half marathon, marathon, half marathon, all alone as well, until we go in two weeks.’

‘I’m a very gung-ho kind of person but these things don’t really work like that. This is a very specific kind of challenge.’

‘This is a World Record attempt, this would be a world first. Even Russ Cook, the Hardest Geezer, who ran the whole length of Africa… not taking away from it at all, it is an insane achievement but he ran most of it on road.’

‘A desert marathon is very different, it’s much hotter, much slower, much harder. He spent six days on sand. It’s a long, hard thing and pretty unappealing to people I would have thought.’
