A series of brawls broke out at Georgia’s Six Flags park on its ‘Opening Day’ that led to a tense gunfire exchange between suspects and cops.

Six Flags Over Georgia opened for the first time this year on Saturday – but what was meant to be a day of rollercoasters and fun turned into chaos and panic.

Fights broke out within the Austell park on Saturday evening, with teens running through the park and a group of males kicking one person to the ground.

Video footage showed the crazed fighting scenes as a helicopter is seen flying overhead.

There was reportedly a large police presence at the park, and the GBI confirmed that Cobb County officers were involved in the shooting that broke out.

The GBI said there were almost 600 people running around and fighting at the park on Saturday evening.

An ‘unknown number’ of suspects fired shots at cops as the Cobb County officers rushed people out of the park onto South Service Road, FOX5 reported.

An officer returned fire and hit one of the suspects, who was then taken to Grady Memorial Hospital – though their current condition is unknown.

Someone who was at the park during the fights managed to capture the chaos on camera, which he then uploaded on Instagram.

Huge crowds of people can be seen moving around the park frantically and visitors screamed ‘what the f*** is going on’ in the background.

Park employees tried to usher the mobs out of the park as more screaming broke out.

One boy is seen to be getting put in handcuffs and arrested by two officers amidst the chaos, although it’s unclear what exactly he is being arrested for.

A visitor of the park at the time of the gunfire said, ‘Six Flags Over Georgia is NOT safe.’

They posted on X: ‘We went to get one ride in Goliath at the end of the night to be told “we have to leave the park It’s not safe” By security.’

‘Then when we come out not only do we see all these police, we hear gun shots that caused mass panic. Do not go,’ the user warned.

The amusement park faced similar issues last year on its ‘opening day’. A large group of teenagers had to be removed from the park after fighting broke out.

It is unknown whether any of the suspects will face legal consequences for the events that occurred on Saturday evening.

Read the statement from Six Flags Over Georgia in full:

‘Our goal is to provide safe, fun entertainment. We employ state of the art security systems and metal detection, maintain a robust and vigilant Public Safety Department, and have strong support from Cobb County Police who are present both inside and outside the park. Every guest is expected to follow our strict code of conduct and anyone unwilling to follow that code of conduct is unwelcome.

It is incredibly disappointing that our community is disrupted at public events throughout the region by groups of underaged youth. Just like other venues in the area, we are committed to keeping this type of trouble outside our park and off our property. There was police activity involving gunshots; we want to confirm there was no shooting at our property or parking lot. This took place on South Service Road that is not owned or operated by Six Flags. However, we join our community and the Atlanta region in our commitment to safety and security. We won’t put up with that type of activity here.’
