The grandson of Hollywood star Paul Hogan is back in jail after police allegedly caught him with illicit drugs after alleged petty theft and shoplifting sprees.

Daily Mail has obtained exclusive photos of once-handsome Jake Paul Hogan looking skinny and ice-ravaged before police seized him on an arrest warrant.

The 34-year-old is now behind bars at Parklea prison, having traded a comfortable city motel bed for a cell at the infamous western Sydney correctional facility.

Hogan had been free and serving a community order after his dad Todd made a mercy dash with Jake’s sister Lara from New Zealand to plead for his release in May.

He promised to help Jake stick to court-imposed conditions, including abstaining from drugs and alcohol, not committing other offences and appearing in court as required.

But within eight days of his release, police arrested Jake for an earlier alleged theft of a bike.

And shortly before midnight on July 27, Hogan was arrested again in Glebe in Sydney’s inner west.

He was charged with possession of 1.5g of methamphetamine and also possessing housebreaking  implements including an adjustable spanner.

Hogan was ordered to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on August 2, but Magistrate Clare Farnan issued a warrant for his arrest when he failed to turn up.

He was arrested six days later and charged with another earlier crime – stealing a black Trek Marlin mountain bike, reckless destroying a bike cage fence and entering enclosed lands at Woolloomooloo in February.

He was also charged with shoplifting a Red Bull energy drink and two oat health slices worth a total of $9.60 from Woolworths in July.

The Proactive Crime Unit in Kings Cross also charged him with possessing vehicle breaking implements at Kingsford in June,  and he is also charged with contravening an AVO.

After being released from Silverwater prison in May, Hogan went to live with his father at Edgecliff Lodge Motel in Sydney’s east.

But Hogan reportedly snubbed a quiet life of family dinners, preferring instead to meet up with friends for nights out on the town.

The former carpenter once had a nice home, car, steady job and a girlfriend he hoped to marry – but his life took a downward spiral earlier this year when the relationship ended.

Jake’s father Todd is one of Paul Hogan’s five children with first wife, Noelene.

The famous grandfather, who has won the Golden Globe Best Actor in a musical or comedy for his breakout role of Mick ‘Crocodile’ Dundee in 1987, lives in Los Angeles.

Paul Hogan has also faced adversity with his son, Chance, who he had with second wife, and Crocodile Dundee co-star, Linda Kozlowski.

Jake’s decline is partly blamed on the fact he allegedly never got over the death of his mother, Marie, who suffered from multiple sclerosis and died when Jake was aged 17 in 2006.

Todd Hogan eventually remarried to registered nurse Jane, and the couple live in New Zealand while Jake remained in Sydney.

In May, Deputy Chief Magistrate Sharon Freund told Todd Hogan and Jake’s sister Lara that she was more inclined to release Jake from behind bars because of the family’s show of strength.

‘This is a young man who needs some scaffolding,’ the magistrate said. ‘He totally has the opportunity to turn his life around.’

The magistrate gave him a stern warning that if he breached the conditions of his Intensive Corrections Order, he could go back into jail, ‘and nobody wants that’.

Jake Hogan will return to court, via AVL from prison, on August 28. If found guilty and convicted, he could face several years in jail.
