Simon Cowell was branded unrecognisable by Good Morning Britain viewers as they urged him to ‘lay off the Botox’ after an appearance on the show on Wednesday.

The music mogul, 64, appeared on the morning show in a pre-recorded interview with entertainment presenter Richard Arnold.

During the chat he spoke about his plans to find a new boy band and told how he would be holding auditions over the weekend at the Atlantic Pavilion in Royal Albert Dock as part of the search.

But it wasn’t his boy band plans that got those on social media talking – but instead his different appearance.

Many urged him to ‘lay off the Botox’ after seeing his look and questioned: ‘What’s he done to his face!’

Simon has previously denied having a face lift but admitted to regretting his extensive use of Botox.

They said: ‘I’ve seen wooden ventriloquist dummies with more movement in their faces than Simon Cowell #GMB.’,

‘He needs to lay off the Botox #gmb.’,

‘It looks like #simoncowell has seen a ghost with the amount of Botox he’s had on his face #GMB.’,

‘WTF has #SimonCowell done to his face!?! @GMB.’

‘@GMB what has Simon Cowell done to his face?!?! #goodmorningbritain.’

The talent show boss last year revealed that he took his love of Botox too far, with his final treatment leaving him looking like ‘something out of a horror show’.

Simon said he decided to stop when his strange appearance left son Eric, 10, in hysterics.

The former X Factor judge, who shares his son with partner Lauren Silverman, 46, revealed that as a result he no longer has any filler in his face.

‘I mean there are K-Pop bands but in terms of UK bands like One Direction, there hasn’t been one in all that time.

‘They don’t knock on your door so there is only one way of doing it, you have to go out in cities and hope that people will turn up and audition.

‘We thought that we will document the whole thing so if it works or it doesn’t you will be able to see everything.’

Richard asked: ‘Why a boy band in particular?’ as Simon explained: ‘I thought we could either do a boy band or a girl band and I thought let’s start with a boy band.’

He then asked Simon: ‘What will the audition process look like?’

Simon then revealed: ‘I didn’t want to set it up as here is a desk we made and we are going to sit behind it or have singer trying to find other singers, it’s much more about people I have worked with over the years and have had a lot of success who will be there to help me.’

He continued: ‘I’m not going to lie, I am nervous – nervous like going on a rollercoaster.

‘You know there is going to be ups and downs and you’re going to be terrified. The thought of this not working and that is really scary. I’ll be really disappointed.’

Ending the interview, he added: ‘There is a purpose for doing this. I think it is time that Britain has a successful band again.’
