A shopper known as the ‘Oracle of Costco’ has revealed his ‘scariest prediction yet’ about one of the most coveted products sold at the bulk retail store.
The man shared an urgent announcement online about the price of Costco’s rotisserie chicken, advising customers to ‘stock up now’.
Since the staple Kirkland Signature chicken was launched in 2009, it has famously sold for $4.99 – but now the Oracle believes the price could increase as sky-high inflation continues to raise the price of everyday goods.
‘I’ve been called many things in my life but now I’m called the Oracle of Costco,’ the man said as he oddly held up a pricey Whole Foods rotisserie chicken while he drove.
‘Rotisserie chicken at Costco is going up to $6.99 within 12 months. I think it already is in Canada it’s going up to $6.99. That’s my prediction, by the end of this year,’ he added.

The Costco superfan explained how he has previously forecasted other changes to the store that have come true.
He explained: ’10 years ago, I predicted that they were going to get rid of the Polish hotdog, and they did.’
Costco, the third-largest retailer in the world, stopped selling the polish hotdog at its stores in an effort to ‘simplify’ the menu and ‘make room for healthier options,’ Costco said.
‘I also predicted that they were going to get rid of just being able to walk on the food court to get something to eat, and they stopped doing that too now.
‘Now you have to show your Costco ID card,’ he added.
Many people used to come to the store just to enjoy a slice of pizza or chicken bake, but since 2020, Costco has required that only members can indulge in the popular food court.
The Oracle doubled down on his latest prediction about the famed rotisserie chicken.

‘It’s gonna happen because I’ve never been wrong about these things. My track record is excellent.

Viewers quickly flocked to the Oracle’s video and commented on how his prediction could be right.
‘$7.99 for chickens at Costco here in Canada now,’ one wrote.
Another said: ‘Well duhhh, I just paid $9 for a rotisserie chicken the other day.’
‘NYC $6.99 already,’ a commenter said.
Other’s suggested the price increase of the chicken wouldn’t be that big of a change.
‘$6.99 isn’t bad either way,’ a person said.
Someone else said: ‘I mean $7 ain’t too bad for a chicken.’
Costco CEO Ron Vachris revealed that the store’s service deli had a ‘very strong year’ after selling 137million rotisserie chickens in 2023, Aol reported.
This isn’t the first time the bulk store has faced backlash, as the chief financial officer (CFO) of Costco, Gary Millerchip, made a major announcement about the store’s long-standing hot dog deal in May.
Millerchip, who became Costco’s CFO in March 2024, revealed the retail store chain’s plans for the $1.50 frank and soda combo – a topic that has piqued the interest of customers and economists alike.

CNN reporter Nathaniel Meyersohn posted to X on May 30 revealing what Millerchip had to say about the future of the beloved combo.
‘Costco’s new finance chief today: “I also want to confirm the $1.50 hot dog price is safe,”‘ Meyersohn tweeted.
Previous suggestions that the hot dog price may be increased led to death threats from the former CEO – but new finance chiefs often come with new strategies and cost-cutting efforts.
Costco’s $1.50 hot dog and soda combo is a popular meal deal at the retail store chain’s food courts, and its price has stayed the same since 1985.
The decision for the retail chain to not change the price is what R5 Capital retail analyst Scott Muskin told ABC 7 was ‘branding’ and a way of reminding customers of what Costco is.

Though it is unclear if Costco will raise the price of its rotisserie chicken, grocery and restaurant prices have skyrocketed in the US.
Grocery prices are up double digits percent under Biden as Americans are routinely shocked by the cost of a typical visit to the store.
Inflation has driven up the prices of common foods and drinks from meat to alcohol and vegetables. For example, Florida Natural orange juice has jumped from $1.99 five years ago, to $4.49 today.
Prices have risen at all major retailers in the state, including Market Basket, Stop & Shop, Shaw’s, and Whole Foods.
