An investigation is underway after a man allegedly fired a Glock-lookalike gel blaster behind NSW Parliament House.
The incident unfolded on Hospital Road at about 1pm on Thursday.
The NSW Police said the replica gun was fired into the ground several times.
Emergency services raced to the scene with four police cars spotted near the premises.
‘The bloke apparently drives along Hospital Road to Parliament House and fires what looks like a Glock into the Domain,’ a parliamentary source told the Daily Telegraph.
‘We think it was a gel blaster.’
The man drove off after discharging the replica firearm.
No injuries have been reported.
NSW Police have set up a crime scene.
Police officers searching the Domain parklands, which are directly behind the Parliament building, for casings after the alleged shooting.
Detectives spoke with NSW Parliament special constables and Premier Chris Minns’ close protection officers.
