Stunning video showed the aisle of an American Airlines plane flood as bewildered passengers watched the trail of water encroach toward the front the airline.

Hilary Stewart Blazevic was aboard the wetter-than-usual plane on December 7 for a trip from Dallas to Minneapolis.

Blazevic took the video, which showed the water coming from the rear bathroom of the plane.

She submitted the video to Storyful and said a woman used that bathroom before alerting flight staff of the leak. The video showed a flight attendant unsuccessfully stopping the overflowing water.

‘It was utter disbelief and a little panic realizing they can’t shut off the water,’ Blazevic said.

She said she and her fellow passengers had to pick up their belongings from the floor as well as their feet to avoid touching the ‘disgusting’ water.

DailyMail.com approached American Airlines for comment. The company has yet to speak out regarding the incident.

The video first went viral on TikTok, where it now has more than 7.2 million views and more than 61,000 likes.

The account that posted the video used ‘My Heart Will Go On’ by Celine Dion as the background music and joked that the inflight movie was Titanic.

Nearly 1,700 people flooded the comments to express horror or make light about the nightmare scenario at cruising altitude.

One of the top comments simply asked who clogged the toilet, since the leak originated from the rear bathroom.

One person wrote: ‘Another reason to wear closed toe shoes and not flip flops and crocs.’

Another said: ‘Imagine drowning …on a plane…. in the air.’

A third wrote: ‘Drowning at 30,000 feet going 500mph lol new death fear unlocked lol.’

The most recent controversy American Airlines is facing had to do with a doctor who gave up her business class seats to assist a sick passenger experiencing a medical emergency.

Dr. Erin Nance, known on TikTok as @littlemissdiagnosed, shared her experience of volunteering to assist an unwell passenger on the first leg of their flight to Italy, an overnight flight to London. This selfless act required her and her husband to sacrifice their premium seating.

The incident unfolded an hour into her flight in June when the crew announced a medical emergency.

A sick, elderly woman on board with her son fainted twice in 20 minutes. Dr. Nance offered her and her husband’s business class seats to them so the woman could lie down comfortably.

This gesture prevented the flight from being diverted to Nova Scotia, as the pilot had suggested.

Because she gave up her expensive seats, Dr. Nance requested a refund from American Airlines, something that was initially denied.

Speaking to DailyMail.com, Dr. Nance said that while she would gladly volunteer her seat again to ensure someone’s safety, it was fair to expect reimbursement for the expensive tickets.

‘Physicians are inherently altruistic, always ready to assist those in need. While we don’t seek recognition or reward, it’s reasonable to expect gratitude from companies when we go above and beyond,’ she said.

‘Over the years, I’ve assisted countless passengers in medical distress. It’s part of the job. I’ve never asked for anything in return; in fact, I often don’t even mention it.

‘In this case, I personally chose to sacrifice my comfort to ensure the safety and well-being of a fellow passenger. It’s a small gesture, but one that could have prevented a major disruption to the entire flight.’

Weeks went by without a response to her formal complaint, prompting her to share her experience on TikTok, where the video went viral.

The attention forced American Airlines to respond, but their offer of airline miles fell short of her expectations.

The airline claimed that, since the tickets were booked through British Airways, they couldn’t issue a refund directly.

However, after continued public pressure and support from commenters, British Airways stepped in and agreed to refund the difference in the cost of the seats. American Airlines also offered additional points to her and her husband as compensation.

Dr. Nance was just recently refunded $2,145.52 this month for the sacrificed seats while American Airlines awarded her miles for her assistance on board.
