A disturbing website has been exposed as a scam after claiming to sell high-powered guns to ns without the need for a permit.
The website, whose ownership and where it’s based is hidden in a complex international web, is offering gold pistols, M16 military assault rifles and Kalashnikov AK-47s.
The M16s are priced from $6,500 to $10,000, depending on the model, an AK-47 is $12,000 and a gold Desert Eagle handgun can be had for $15,000.
But beyond the fact that selling such weapons is illegal, there is another major problem with this website – two separate n police forces believe it’s a scam designed to part naïve gangsters from their money.
‘Police are aware of a website claiming to be selling illegal firearms,’ a NSW Police spokeswoman told Daily Mail on Monday.
‘Officers from the Drug and Firearm Squad, State Crime Command, are investigating the matter.
‘The public is reminded that websites claiming to sell illegal items are generally scam sites.’
Queensland Police said it is investigating the site and that it ‘urges the public to remain vigilant against online scams and fraudulent activities’.
For those desperate to get a high-calibre weapon online, the site says: ‘YOU DO NOT NEED A FIREARM PERMIT to purchase a firearm here.’
‘With or without a firearm permit, you can anonymously obtain a firearm or ammo from our marketplace.’
But just in case anyone might think the sellers are completely unscrupulous, the website points out that all customers must be aged 21 or older.
The website accepts payment by cryptocurrency, which it says allows buyers to remain anonymous.
A company based in the Netherlands has been used to hide the supposed gun dealer’s personal details.
