Selma Blair looked radiant on Tuesday, as she grabbed dinner with her son Arthur Saint Bleick at celebrity hotspot Craig’s in Los Angeles.

The actress, 51, flashed a bright smile on her way out as she showed off her chic sense of style in a black and white semi transparent top tucked into a pair of elegant white pants.

She teamed the outfit with sparkling open-toe heels, a chunky gold necklace, and a black coat draped over her shoulders.

The Cruel Intentions star — who recently shared a positive health update amid her ongoing MS battle — used the aid of a brown wooden cane.

With her other arm she held onto her only son, 12, whom she shares with ex Jason Bleick, 53.

Arthur sported a short-sleeve white t-shirt, khaki pants, and multi-color Nike sneakers.

Joining them for the outing was Selma’s service dog Scout, an adorable English Labrador.

The Legally Blonde star and Arthur’s fashion designer father, Jason, dated from 2010 until 2012. The pair welcomed Arthur in 2011.

Blair has candidly discussed the ‘very hard’ start to motherhood she faced amid her MS diagnosis, and said she went from ‘blissful pregnancy to utter devastation’ after giving birth.

Reflecting on the tough period of her life with Glamour Magazine, she said: ‘The MS flared very obviously, when I was in labor. My body started going through distress as bodies can, and, of course, I didn’t know I had it.

‘And so the moment Arthur was born, I went from this kind of blissful pregnancy to utter devastation.’

Blair added: ‘Everything was too overwhelming. I couldn’t be in a relationship. There was nothing I could do except be a mother. And I was brutally tired and I didn’t have a support system. I didn’t know how to set one up.’

‘So even though I’m sociable and friendly, I’m alone for everything. And this child automatically became my biggest responsibility, my biggest love, but it was a very, very hard adjustment for me. Very hard.’

When she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at age 46, it was a relief – it explained the physical pain and neurological symptoms she had experienced since childhood.

She previously revealed that she and Jason have a ‘flexible’ custodial and co-parenting arrangement, which has been helpful since her MS diagnosis.

‘Jason is a huge part of Arthur’s life. He’s shown up in a big way,’ she told People in 2019. ‘I’m really proud of us.’

In 2022 during a tearful interview on The Drew Barrymore Show Blair shared that she never felt hope until Arthur was born.

Speaking of her traumatic childhood, as well a trauma of sexual abuse and alcohol addiction, she explained, ‘I didn’t know I had hope until I saw my son, and I love him more than anything. and I think, “My God, if he started drinking right now, or if he started doing the hurtful things to girls that people did to me, what would I do in loving to get him on track?”‘

‘We love our kids the most, and we realize we want nothing to get in the way of that,’ she added.

Earlier this month Selma gave an update on her health during the 2023 Glamour Women of the Year Awards.

She spoke to Entertainment Tonight at the star-studded event and revealed that she had been making much progress since her diagnosis.

The performer also spoke about being in remission and adjusting to life with the condition. Blair began by revealing that, although ‘it took a while’ for her to recover from multiple sclerosis, she was ‘feeling really, really much stronger now and building stamina.’

The Hellboy actress also stated that her disease had ‘been, for really many, many years, burning’ before she began her course of treatment.

The performer went on to speak about being able to raise awareness about multiple sclerosis over the last few years.

‘It’s been a really lovely journey in this second part of my life, of finding [my] community and realizing that nothing feels as good as helping to be a megaphone for other people,’ she said.

Blair then stated that it was ‘so wonderful’ to have been named as one of the event’s honorees.

Blair announced that she had officially been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in an Instagram post that was shared in August of 2018.

WHAT IS MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS?

Multiple sclerosis (known as MS) is a condition in which the immune system attacks the body and causes nerve damage to the brain and spinal cord.

It is an incurable, lifelong condition. Symptoms can be mild in some, and in others more extreme causing severe disability.

MS affects 2.3 million people worldwide – including around one million in the US, and 100,000 in the UK.

It is more than twice as common in women as it is in men. A person is usually diagnosed in their 20s and 30s.

The condition is more commonly diagnosed in people of European ancestry.

The cause isn’t clear. There may be genes associated with it, but it is not directly hereditary. Smoking and low vitamin D levels are also linked to MS.

Symptoms include fatigue, difficulty walking, vision problems, bladder problems, numbness or tingling, muscle stiffness and spasms, problems with balance and co-ordination, and problems with thinking, learning and planning.

The majority of sufferers will have episodes of symptoms which go away and come back, while some have ones which get gradually worse over time.

Symptoms can be managed with medication and therapy.

The condition shortens the average life expectancy by around five to 10 years.
