Selena Gomez’ fiancé Benny Blanco has been roundly mocked for the bizarre  Valentine’s Day treat he prepared for her.

In lieu of rose petals, he used a trail of nachos to lead her into the bathroom where the chips were arranged to read: ‘I [heart] YOU’.

Then, presumably in order to have a condiment to go with the nachos, Selena would be confronted with the sight of a bathtub filled with cheese dip.

A bowl of nachos was set by tub for Selena to dip in the spread – and in a video he posted to Instagram, Benny helped himself to the snack as well.

Fans flocked to social media to share their unfiltered impressions of how ‘gross,’ ‘disgusting’ and ‘stupid’ Benny’s romantic gesture was.

‘Cheese goes bad in two hours. Didn’t think this one threw, did you [sic]?’ observed one as another remarked: ‘I just threw up in my mouth – that’s so gross.’

‘That’s f’ng gross! Wonder if he got a pubic hair caught in that dip,’ wrote another, amid reactions like ‘ew’ and ‘I’m sorry but NO.’

‘Who TF is gonna clean that up,’ demanded one user on X, formerly Twitter, as another opined: ‘This screams I want attention so bad.’ 

Selena and Benny, who have worked together before, announced yesterday that they are working on a new album – and that same day she dropped the first single from the project, Scared Of Loving You.

Selena first took her relationship with Benny public in December 2023, revealing that they had been secretly dating for six months. 

Last August, Selena set off an avalanche of rumors with a mirror selfie that had a heart emoji strategically placed over her left hand fourth finger. 

Then in December, Selena finally confirmed that wedding bells are around the corner by posting an Instagram album of her wearing his engagement ring.

She heartwarmingly captioned the post: ‘forever begins now..,’ and Benny leapt into the comments to write: ‘Hey wait… that’s my wife.’ 

They also revealed the proposal was accompanied by a picnic of goodies from Taco Bell, which is Selena’s fast food chain of choice.

In December 2023, when Selena first publicly disclosed that she was dating Benny, she wrote on social media: ‘He is my absolute everything in my heart.’ 

Responding to various fan comments, Selena described Benny as ‘the best thing that’s ever happened to me’ and ‘better than anyone I’ve ever been with.’

When one social media user questioned the romance, Selena snapped: ‘I don’t understand. If you actually care about me. This is my happiest.’

The Come And Get It singer doubled down: ‘If you don’t feel free to say whatever you want. But I will never allow your words to guide my life. Ever. I’m done. If you can’t accept me at my happiest then don’t be in [m]y life at all.’ 

A couple of months later, Selena glowingly revealed that she feels ‘safest’ in her ‘awesome,’ ‘lovely’ relationship with Benny.

‘Without getting into too much detail, I think it’s just really important to meet someone that respects you, and I think it’s really nice to also lean on someone who understands the world that I live in,’ she told Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1.

Selena was also filled with praise for Benny when he controversially featured inside People magazine’s famous Sexiest Man Alive Issue in November. 

Although the cover star The Office heartthrob John Krasinski, the fact Benny was included at all was sharply polarizing on account of his looks.

She then shared a quote from writer William C. Hannan: ‘I still haven’t figured out how to sit across from you, and not be madly in love with everything you do.’
