A Seattle high school with a recent history of activism is facing outrage from a parent after her 10th grader was marked wrong for saying only men have penises and only women get pregnant.

The parent and her student, who have remained anonymous out of fear of backlash, said the answers were from a true-false test in an Ethic Studies World History class at Chief Sealth International High School.

The student put down the two statements as ‘true’ on his ‘Understanding Gender vs. Sex’ quiz and was corrected by the teacher.

His mother claims that he failed the portion of the quiz as a result of his answers, which has led her to speak out.

‘I keep trying to wrap my head around how it is legal to teach inaccurate information and force students to answer against their beliefs or receive negative scores,’ she said.

The quiz also included questions about usage of they/them pronouns and the idea of gender as a construct, according to KTTH.

She said it’s the latest in a series of indignities her son has been made to face at the school.

The woman claims her son has been yelled at by teachers over accusations of racism and ‘a product of the patriarchy that teaches young boys not to care about anything.’

She even claimed he was told ‘he shouldn’t use the term straight to identify as because its offensive.’

A spokesperson for Seattle Public Schools defended the quiz in a statement.

‘[Seattle Public Schools] remains committed to fostering inclusive environments that encourage the exploration of contemporary issues, particularly the examination of power systems such as racism and patriarchy,’ they said.

‘This dedication extends to providing a space for thoughtful exploration and dialogue on these issues.’

The student’s failure on the quiz is not going to affect his overall grade in the class, the spokesperson added.

Chief Sealth International High School has seen a recent spate of activism.

Students at the school recently walked out of class after text messages between a group of football players discussing sexually assaulting classmates had surfaced, KIRO reported.
