Reality TV star Savannah Chrisley used her own family story to settle scores at the Republican convention with prosecutors who President Donald Trump accuses of running politically motivated investigations.
Chrisley delivered a speech to gathered delegates and bigwigs where she tore into Fulton County prosecutors who charged her parents – and who are currently prosecuting Trump and alleged coconspirators, after suffering some humiliating setbacks.
She called to free Trump ally Steve Bannon probe of Biden family ‘corruption.’
‘We need to hold rogue prosecutors to accountability,’ said Chrisley, whose parents got sentenced to 19 years in prison but had their sentences ultimately overturned.
The tore into the ‘warrantless raids’ in Fulton County, Georgia, the same county where Trump and alleged coconspirators were indicted on charges related to his election overturn effort.
Chrisley, who has appeared on The Masked Singer and in Sharknado 4, called for exposing ‘the Biden family’s corruption. And guess what, I know just the man for that job,’ she said – suggesting Trump would use the powers of a second term to go after his rival.
She is also on Chrisley Knows Best, a reality show on the USA Network. It includes parents real-estate tycoon Todd Chrisley wife Julie, who were found guilty on fraud charges, sent to prison, had her sentence reduced and then tossed over how it was calculated.
Trump himself has called for ‘retribution,’ something Biden repeatedly invokes in interviews.
At was a sideline for a convention that Trump and key surrogates has said is being directed toward a call for national ‘unity’ after a would-be assassin fired shots and wounded the GOP presidential nominee.
But her remarks touched on some of the most controversial issues that have infuriated Trump and divided the nation. It comes just weeks after Trump was convicted of 34 counts in the Stormy Daniels hush money trial in New York, and a day after a Trump-appointed judge dismissed his classified documents case in Florida.
‘Donald J. Trump has only one conviction that matters and that is the conviction to make America great again,’ she said in one applause line that referenced the hush money case in New York that has him facing sentencing in September.
She called for the release of Bannon, a former chief White House strategist who reported to prison for defying a congressional subpoena.
‘Look at what they’ve done to Steve Bannon. I mean, the man should be home,’ she said, to cheers from the GOP crowd.
Her speech brought up some of legal saga that has infuriated Trump and brought some of his angriest online tirades.
‘My family was persecuted by rogue prosecutors in Fulton County due to our public profile … and conservative beliefs. They accuse my parents of fraud when rarely, we were defrauded by a dishonest business partner,’ she told the convention.
‘Just look at what they’re doing to President Trump. All while, let’s face it, Hunter Biden is roaming around free and attending classified meetings’ – going after the president’s son.
