A body believed to be that of a young woman who was swept away by floodwaters in NSW’s Hunter Valley over the weekend has been found.
The woman, 26, was a passenger in a Mini Countryman when in became stuck in floodwaters at Black Creek, north of Cessnock, about 7.50pm on Saturday.
The driver, a 27-year-old woman, managed to swim to the bank with her dog and was rescued unharmed.
On Wednesday, police said a body had been located by VRA Rescue NSW.
‘While the body is yet to be formally identified, it is believed to be that of the missing woman,’ police said in a statement.
‘A report will be prepared for the Coroner.’
