A Russian ‘maniac’ beheaded a prostitute and then killed a second who mocked him because he could not perform in bed during a visit to ‘de-stress’ from the first murder, according to reports.

Detained Alexei Varakin, 37, is believed to have killed two escorts in a frenzy after he ‘was unable to have sexual intercourse with them’, ‘driving him crazy’, according to Russian news outlet Shot. He is reported to have appeared in court following the discovery of the bodies of the two escorts.

The beheaded remains of Olga Vorobyova, 40, were found near a hotel where they allegedly met in Moscow district Izmailovo. Vlada Skitskaya, 25, is believed to have been killed a day later in her rented flat in the Moscow City business district.

After visiting Skitskaya to ‘de-stress’ after the first murder and being mocked by her for his sexual inadequacy, he allegedly then lunged at the 25-year-old with a knife, with Skitskaya putting up a fight and injuring her attacker, according to Shot.

Skitskaya, terrified, had managed to call a friend during the attack and say a client was trying to kill her, it is reported.

Her cries for help were also heard by neighbours.

Police were called but when officers arrived the woman was dead from knife wounds.

There were signs of attempted beheading, said reports.

The suspect had recently been released from prison after he was incarcerated in 2010 for the murder of two sex workers.

Shot identified the suspect as Alexey Varakin from Tashkent, Uzbekistan, adding that Ms Vorobyova ‘had taken some drugs and refused to have sex with him, so he cut off her head and ran away.’

The Moscow Prosecutor’s Office confirmed on Sunday it was looking into the recent murder of two women, without providing details other than that a 25-year-old woman sustained knife wounds during a dispute in a residence in western Moscow.

Varakin was then seen in a court video where he was remanded in custody for two months.

In the court he confessed to the two latest killings, according to reports.

The suspect had been ‘cured’ after he was sentenced in 2010 to psychiatric hospital following the murder of two sex workers, the court was told.
