Rio Ferdinand proved the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree on Tuesday after confirming himself as the latest advocate of Project Mbappé.
Parents across Britain have embraced the tongue-in-cheek craze, which involves mock-training their children to become skilled footballing prodigies from an early age and hopefully enjoy the same meteoric stardom as French ace Kylian Mbappé.
The 25-year old, considered one of the finest players of his generation, had already won the World Cup and four Ligue 1 titles by the time he turned 21.
He is expected to leave current club Paris Saint Germain over the summer, with Spanish giants Real Madrid his likely destination.
And given Mbappé’s incessant rise, Ferdinand – a highly decorated former footballer in his own right – has embraced the trend while holidaying with his family in Abu Dhabi.

Taking to Instagram, the former Manchester United and England centre-back shared a video of himself training son Cree on the beach.
Ferdinand, 45, is seen throwing a ball to the three-year old, who shows off some promising shooting skills as he kicks the ball back to his father.
The retired footballer, now a pundit, is currently enjoying a sunshine break in the United Arab Emirates with wife Kate, their young son, daughter Shae, nine months, and Ferdinand’s three child from his first marriage to Rebecca Ellison, who died of breast cancer in 2015.
Kate, 32, displayed her figure in a tiny blue bikini and accessorised with a fedora and oversized sunglasses during a trip to the beach.
In one snap, the former TV personality beamed as she held her daughter Shae, nine months, and three-year-old son Cree.
While another image showed Kate and her husband Rio Ferdinand dressed up for a night out in the Arab state.
The family are enjoying a luxurious stay at the Jumeirah at Saadiyat Island Resort, which boasts seven restaurants, three outdoor pools and a luxurious spa.
Alongside the holiday photo dump, Kate wrote on Instagram: ‘The best time #inabudhabi @visitabudhabi’

It comes after Kate revealed whether her and Rio were planning to expand their family further.
Kate, who welcomed her daughter Shae last July, did a Q and A on Instagram last month where she was asked about if they were planning on adding to their blended family.
Kate is also mother to three-year-old son Cree and stepmother to Rio’s children Lorenz, 17, Tate, 15, and Tia, 12.
When asked: ‘Do you want anymore children?’ Kate replied: ‘The shop is shut. Five is more than enough for us’.
Kate also shared an insight into her post-partum exercise regime after having a planned caesarean for Shae’s birth.
The reality star showed off her incredible figure in an array of bikinis earlier this month as the family jetted off on holiday.
When one fan asked how long she waited in her recovery until she started doing Pilates, Kate said: ‘6 weeks until I done any exercise.

‘I think this was actually eight weeks after the baby. I started back on the mat and we took it back to basics and we are still now gradually building it back up.
‘You loose all strength so it really is a process that takes time. Be easy on yourself.’
The reality star used to go to the gym five times a week, but is now exercising three times as her ‘priorities had to change’ when she became a step-mother.
Kate has said she ‘isn’t feeling super confident’ but is going ‘easier on herself’ after the birth of her two children.
Kate revealed she also maintains a healthy diet, having homemade granola with yoghurt for breakfast and chicken, butternut squash and spinach for dinner.
