Michael ‘Wippa’ Wipfli has made the bombshell admission on air that he regrets taking an expensive weight loss drug after experiencing painful side effects.

The Nova radio host, who earlier this month admitted he was taking an Ozempic competitor called Mounjarotold co-star Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald the medication was wreaking havoc on his digestive system.

‘I woke up on Monday morning… If you’ve ever had that urge to get to a bathroom really quickly… I have been running to the bathroom all week!’ Wippa began.

The 45-year-old, who had previously praised the drug, admitted he had now changed his mind after enduring its unpleasant effects.

‘I spoke about how wonderful Mounjaro is… If I spoke about that and didn’t give you an update, then I would be misleading,’ Wippa said.

‘I must inform everyone I was reading about Mounjaro and there is a whole blog about what happens when you get to the 16 week mark.

‘I don’t want to go into too many details, but I was on the road and I thought I might have to wipe my b*m with the sock. I didn’t know what to do.’

Wippa also revealed the medication had left him feeling exhausted.

‘You only take it once a week, so I thought I’ve got some sort of bug and it should be gone in 24 or 48 hours… but this has drained the life out of me,’ he said.

Earlier, this month, Wippa admitted live on-air he was taking the weight loss drug popular with celebrities.

‘Bit of a health update! I rolled into the doctor the other day with a couple of symptoms and he tells me to jump on the scales,’ Wippa began.

Wippa said his weight was higher than expected and so he was prescribed  Mounjaro.

‘Let’s not go into the actual (weight), but there were three digits! I’ve been there before and the doctor said he can put me onto something.’

At the time, Wippa said the doctor told him Mounjara was ‘better’ than Ozempic because it helped people achieve the same weight loss goals ‘without the side effects’ – which Wippa later claimed was not a true statement.

‘You get it in a pen. Mounjaro and Ozempic both lower the blood sugar in people, in combination with a healthy diet. It stifles your appetite.’

He explained that being on the drug was helping him reduce snacking throughout the day, with his bowl of breakfast cereal now sustaining him until lunchtime.

Wippa then said the one downside to the drug was its cost.

‘It is $350 for the pen and one month’s dose. And I needed a new pen and the chemist charged me $580,’ Wippa said.

The Melbourne-born presenter said it had significantly improved his appearance and lifestyle.

However, he recommended anyone considering it should shop around for the cheapest deal.

Wippa and his wife Lisa have been open about his health struggles in the past.

He shares his three children with Lisa, 41, who spoke about the couple’s decision to sleep in separate beds back in 2023.

She first opened up about their unorthodox sleeping arrangement in an interview with Body+Soul, revealing that they retire to their own private bedrooms at the end of the day.
