The Prime Minister has reached new depths of unpopularity with even Labour voters turning against him, polling suggests.

A survey found just 45 per cent of the party faithful now have a favourable view of their leader, after a sharp drop of more than 17 points in the past month.

And half of Labour voters say they have an unfavourable view of him, up from 33 per cent in April.

‘This is the first time Keir Starmer has been more unpopular than popular with Labour voters,’ YouGov said.

Overall, only 23 per cent of Britons have a favourable view of Sir Keir, while 69 per cent have a negative perception of him.

It means the Prime Minister’s ‘net favourability rating’ is -46, the lowest ever recorded.

Three of his top team – Angela Rayner, Yvette Cooper and Rachel Reeves – also got ‘worst-ever’ scores.

The pollster said Labour itself has hit ‘new depths’, with 65 per cent holding an unfavourable view of the party, the most since the question was first asked in June 2017.

Only 59 per cent who voted Labour last year now have a favourable opinion of the party.

‘Even among their own voters, Labour are now no more popular than the Greens,’ said YouGov.

The polling of 2,171 adults was done after Sir Keir’s crackdown on immigration was criticised by many in his party.

It will heighten fears in No 10 that his new stance on border control will not win votes on the Right, and also lose him support on the Left to the Greens and Liberal Democrats.
