A nine-year-old girl who was killed in a horror crash with a double-decker bus has been named as nine-year-old Ada Bicakci.
The primary school girl died in hospital on the afternoon of Monday August 5 two days after she was struck by the vehicle alongside a five-year-old boy in Bexleyheath, south-east London.
The kind girl once cut her hair off for charity, and has been described as a keen gymnast and swimmer.
Little Ada’s organs have been donated and used to help six other children, police revealed today.
The male driver of the bus was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury through dangerous driving and drug-driving. He has been bailed to a date in early November pending further enquiries.
Police said that ‘despite the best efforts of medical staff, she sadly died in the afternoon on Monday, 5 August’.
The boy was taken to hospital as a precaution but has since been discharged.
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police’s Roads and Transport Policing Command are leading the investigation.
A Met Police spokesperson said: ‘Any witnesses to the collision who are yet to speak with police are asked to call 101 quoting reference CAD 2309/03AUG.’
This is a breaking story, more to follow.
