A former radio presenter has divided Aussies after threatening to call the cops on his neighbour because they were playing the drums too loud during the evening.

Mitch Churi, who previously worked at KIIS FM, shared footage to TikTok of his neighbour playing the drums at 8.30pm on Christmas Day.

‘POV (point of view) your neighbour got a drum set for Christmas,’ he wrote in the caption.

Footage showed the neighbour surrounded by several guests dressed in Christmas attire as he played on.

‘It’s 8.30, Christmas night, this cannot be happening,’ Churi said while filming from his balcony.

‘He’s inside. Who is he f***ing performing for? Oh the family, they’re sitting and watching!’

Churi said he was going to call the cops due to the disturbance.

Dozens of commenters were left baffled by his complaint, questioning whether the issue warranted a visit from the police.

‘Did the police laugh at you?’ one person wrote.

‘I don’t think police even will attend,’ another person wrote.

A third added: ‘I bet your [sic] a blast at parties.’

Others said the noise was harmless and urged Churi to get into the festive spirit by letting others enjoy the holidays.

‘Dude it’s 8:30pm on a public holiday, let him have some fun,’ one person wrote.

‘It’s Christmas man if this was [on] a Monday at like 10 maybe I’d understand but 8:30 isn’t even late,’ another person wrote.

‘There’s noise laws for a reason and he’s within his rights to do as he pleases,’ a third chimed in.

Some agreed with Churi’s complaint and said people should be mindful of other residents.

‘As long as he’s having his fun, who cares if he’s making life a misery for his neighbours hey?’ one person mocked.

‘Shouldn’t have to put up with that c*** ever,’ another person wrote.

‘It’s noise nuisance,’ a third chimed in.

Several saw the funnier side and praised Churi for uploading the satirical video.

‘He’s taking the p**s and we all need people like this at parties,’ one person wrote.

‘How dare that person have fun with their family,’ another person added.

Churi later uploaded a humorous video on Boxing Day and said the issue was resolved in a cheeky jibe at the dozens of commenters, who took exception to his complaint.

‘Update on the drum set situation, the police were called [and] they arrived,’ he said.

‘They arrested him … and the drum set [was] confiscated and it’s set to be destroyed.’

A noise level of five decibels above the background noise in the area is permitted across residential areas in NSW between 7am and 10pm.

Churi was the former co-host of the The Pick Up drive time program presented by former Bachelorette stars Laura Byrne and Brittany Hockley.

He made an announcement in November he had been sacked from the network after eight years working at the radio station.
