Anthony Albanese has clearly articulated what any owner of an oceanfront mansion overlooking a beautiful white sandy beach would want to express.

How dare beach going ns erect temporary cabanas to protect themselves from the harsh summer sun.

‘That’s not on…. to think that you can reserve a little spot as just yours,’ the PM declared on morning TV show Today.

Having recently purchased a $4.3m waterfront holiday home Albo knows that hard work is the pathway to private ownership on ‘s coastline.

The idea that anyone could obstruct such views with a pop up tent is a travesty, in his eyes at least.

Forget Cancer Council warnings about the importance of shade when enjoying our beaches on high UV days.

Anyone soaking up the sun should slip, slop and slap – rather than erect their own plot of shade.

Boat owners agree with the PM’s musings. There is really nothing worse than laying anchor off a beautiful beach with plans to enjoy the vista free of sand between your toes, only to find that the sandy shoreline is obstructed by end-to-end cabanas laid out by the masses.

Boat and seaside mansion owners need to unite to squash this growing trend of sun safety.

Albo is old enough to remember when some councils handed out shady cabanas for average citizens to use, as part of their skin cancer awareness programs.

Those days are over, and Albo is now on the side of anyone offended by the shade, whatever their reason for feeling that way.

In other parts of the world beach cabanas have been banned, but n councils haven’t yet moved in that direction.

Perhaps the gentle push of a PM keen to preserve his Copacabana beach vista will help the local council to lead the way.

Albo knew his comments this morning – speaking from the heart and off the cuff responding to a genuine question without notice, not the kind he gets served up in Question Time – could cause controversy.

‘I didn’t see that question coming’, he said.

‘We’ll wait and see the reaction…No doubt there’ll be some horror at my declaration.’

On the upside it should help secure the support of teal independents representing high net-worth coastal areas of Sydney and Perth.

I’m sure, just like Albo, residents overlooking the beautiful beaches of Cottesloe, Manly and Palm Beach can’t stand those cabanas the common folk are increasingly using.
