Patrick Mahomes’ mom Randi has shown off the special quilt she had made for him in his college days – which features the logos and jerseys of all the sports teams he played for growing up.
Before his legendary NFL career began, Mahomes – the son of former MLB pitcher Patrick Sr – was an aspiring baseball shortstop for his Tyler, Texas team, even playing in the 2010 Junior League World Series.
The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback was also a three-sport star in his high-school days, playing basketball as well as football and baseball.
Eight years since he was selected by the Chiefs in the 2017 NFL Draft, Mahomes’ mom has taken a trip down memory lane and reminisced about his sporting journey as a kid.
In a video shared on her Instagram, Randi held up the custom-made quilt stitched together with references to several of Patrick’s former teams, which she gave him as a gift in college.
‘This is something I had made for Patrick,’ she says in the clip. ‘I gave it to him and then I kind of took it back after he got back home from college because I was scared he was gonna lose it.

‘It’s just fun to have. One day I’ll give it back to him.’
She also captioned the post: ‘Having a nostalgic moment…and spring break is bringing back all the memories from traveling with sports to team hangouts to tournaments. Every jersey tells a story.
‘This quilt is a reminder of all the hard work, dedication, and dreams along the way. So proud of the journey and the memories stitched into every piece.’
Randi has thrown her support behind Patrick over the course of his sporting career, which has included eight years with Kansas City.
She has been in attendance for countless fixtures throughout the years, including last month’s Super Bowl defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans – despite her father Randy, who passed away at 78 three days later, being in poor health at the time.
Shortly before she looked back at her special gift to Patrick in college, Randi received glowing praise from none other than Donald Trump.
The president had just announced that the Chiefs are being invited to the White House later this year after missing out due to Covid in 2020 when he singled Mahomes’ mom and his wife Brittany for some kind words.
‘I love those two women. They’re so great and so loyal,’ Trump said. ‘I met Patrick’s mother… at the game [the Super Bowl].
‘She came over. And Brittany, I’ve seen so much of Brittany that just, you know, being so loyal and great and beautiful.’
