After first supporting Donald Trump’s candidacy in the 2024 national election, Patrick Mahomes’ mother Randi is now weighing in on one of the President’s signature issues: Transgender athletes in girls and women’s sports.
‘… as a female, I think that it’s not a fair matchup,’ she told Outkick Sports.
Randi insisted she was not using the issue to stigmatize transgender people. Instead, the mother to two grown sons and a teenage daughter said she was concerned transgender girls and women would have a genetic advantage.
‘I love everyone, but when it comes to physical strength and just our DNA, I don’t think it’s fair — because I do have a daughter, and I do have a son,’ she said. ‘As you develop, there is a difference. …
‘But I just think there is a difference in DNA, unfortunately or fortunately. And I just think that women really need to be with women, and men need to be with men.’
Randi usually posts about her family and faith on social media, but has forayed into gender issues on X. During the Paris Games, when Algeria’s Imane Khelif defeated Italian boxer Angela Carini en route to Olympic gold, Randi echoed support for the woman beaten by an allegedly transgender fighter.

‘This is Angela Carini,’ read the message reposted by Randi. ‘We say HER name. This is the woman boxer who was failed by the world. She isn’t crying because she lost. Boxers don’t cry. She is crying due to the horrible unfairness of it all. I cry with her. #IStandWithAngelaCarini.’
Randi’s son Patrick hasn’t forayed into public political discourse, but his wife Brittany did ‘like’ a post defending Trump on social media ahead of the 2024 election.
Then in November, Randi was seen wearing a MAGA hat in a social media post.
Trump has reciprocated by showering Patrick with praise and predicting his Chiefs would beat the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX. And while Trump was wrong about that, his admiration for the quarterback was well received.
‘It’s always cool to be able to play in front of a sitting President,’ Mahomes told reporters ahead of Super Bowl LIX. ‘Someone that is at the top position in our country.
‘It’s cool to hear that he’s seen me play football and respects the game that I play.’
