alert-–-patrick-mahomes-hands-chiefs-major-injury-update-as-he-fights-to-overcome-ankle-sprainAlert – Patrick Mahomes hands Chiefs major injury update as he fights to overcome ankle sprain

After leaving Sunday’s game with an injury, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was a full participant in practice on Wednesday.

In Sunday’s contest against the Cleveland Browns, Mahomes left the game early after a high-low hit from two defensive players.

Mahomes underwent tests at the stadium and was diagnosed with a high ankle sprain.

Since that diagnosis, questions surrounding his potential availability for Saturday’s game against the Houston Texans have arisen.

That includes pundits wondering whether the Chiefs – who have already won the AFC West and currently sit atop the AFC playoff standings as the No. 1 seed – should consider benching Mahomes for him to rest up.

But after Wednesday’s practice, it appears that Mahomes is trending towards starting this weekend.

It appears that Mahomes may not be the only one set to return from an injury this weekend.

Wide receiver Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown was a full participant in practice this week, making it likely that he could make his season debut on Saturday after a shoulder injury.

In a season where the Chiefs have only lost one game, they haven’t been largely impressive offensively either.

Ten of Kansas City’s 13 wins have been by one score – with five of those wins coming with a margin of victory of three points or less.

Mahomes hasn’t exactly been MVP caliber. His 3,348 passing yards are tenth in the league, his 66.7 percent completion percentage is 14th, and his 22 passing touchdowns are ninth. Meanwhile, the 11 interceptions he’s tossed is tied for the sixth most thrown in the league.

Nevertheless, the Chiefs could officially clinch the No. 1 seed in the playoffs this weekend with a win coupled with a Buffalo Bills loss to the struggling New England Patriots.
