A plane carrying dozens of passengers crashed in Brazil’s Sao Paulo state on Friday, local media reported.

Brazil’s TV GloboNews reports that 62 people were aboard the VoePass flight.

The local firefighters corps confirmed that the plane fell in the city of Vinhedo, but did not offer more details.

Chilling footage shared by Brazil’s GloboNews showed a plane spiraling out of the sky before the crash. Another clip showed the 

‘VOEPASS has activated all means to support those involved,’ a statement from the airline said. ‘There is still no confirmation of how the accident occurred or the current situation of the people on board.’ 

The jet was on its way from Cascavel to Guarulhos when it crashed.

Footage shared by Brazilian media showed a large area on fire and smoke coming out of an apparent plane fuselage.

Brazil’s airport authority Infraero did not immediately confirm the information after a request from The Associated Press. 

No local airlines immediately reported one of their planes to be missing.
 According to the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac), the plane was a ATR-72-500 turboprop with 68 seats.

It is manufactured by French company ATR, one of the largest aviation manufacturers in the world.

The jet can fly a maximum  altitude of 10,000 feet with a maximum speed of 510 km/h.
