Paedophile teaching assistant Kandice Barber has been pictured for the first time since she was freed from prison for having sex with one of her teenage students.
The mother-of-three, who was branded ‘beyond despicable’ by a judge, is back living in a smart detached home in Buckinghamshire after being jailed for six years.
Wearing a grey hooded top and tracksuit bottoms branded with the names of the Disney children’s cartoon Lilo and Stitch, Barber popped out to a convenience store to pick up some supplies.
Barber was jailed in 2021 after being convicted of engaging in sexual activity with one of her students.
She slept with the 15-year-old after kissing him on the neck and asking him: ‘What do you want to do now?’
Barber, who was married at the time of the offences, began grooming the teen in 2018.
She started messaging him after taking his phone number at a school sports day prize-giving event.
Their texts then turned ‘sexual’ with Barber sending him photos of her topless.
She later picked him up in her 4×4 car before driving to a secluded field where they had sex.
The teacher continued to send the boy sordid texts – even while teaching him in class.
One message read: ‘You cannot make me blush when I am teaching now, poker face.’
Another message asked: ‘Do you prefer boobs or bum?’ and she sent him a picture of herself lying on a bed surrounded by sex toys.
She also ‘threatened’ to bring the lad down if he reported her and falsely accused him of rape as well as telling him she was pregnant with his child.
She was released last March after serving half of her six-year sentence.
The 38-year-old has kept a low profile since being freed and is not believed to be in contact with another prisoner who she struck up a relationship with while on work release.
Barber became close with convicted fraudster Jay Delaney and posed for selfies while on temporary release together from an East Sutton Park Women’s prison in Kent.
Her husband Daniel Barber stood by her during the trial at Aylesbury Crown Court but has since moved on with his new life and had a baby with another woman.
Barber was hit with a lifelong Sexual Harm Prevention Order and struck off the teaching register in January 2024.
She did not take part in a hearing held by the Teaching Regulation Authority and in a statement to the panel said: ‘Despite the convictions I have always proclaimed my innocence.’
During her release from prison she spent time working as a security guard on a house construction site in West London.
The flaunting of her relationship with Delany led to a loss of privileges while at the open prison but did not have an effect of her release after serving half her sentence.
Neighbours in Buckinghamshire said they were well aware of Barber’s conviction but said they had little to do with her.
‘We see her come and go, but she is not very friendly,’ said one neighbour.
