A man from a small country town has come forward to claim his $50million OzLotto prize.
The man from Burra, a town 160km north of Adelaide that has a population of just 1,100 people, revealed his working days would be over after taking out the jackpot.
‘I don’t think I’ll work again. I think my workdays are done,’ he said.
‘This does absolutely everything for me. I’ll treat myself and help my family.’
He added that he wasn’t aware the jackpot had been claimed during Tuesday’s draw before checking to see if his ticket was a winner.
‘Oh my god. I can’t believe it. I was just saying to myself this morning, $50,000 would be alright heading into Christmas but $50 million,’ he said.
‘I didn’t even know the Oz Lotto jackpot had been won … I just came in to check my ticket.’
The winning numbers for Oz Lotto draw 1608 were 1,29,20,23,34,46 and 39, with 42,43 and 24 being the supplementary numbers.
The man’s winning entry was purchased at Burra Terry White Chemmart Pharmacy.
Store manager, Kelly Bray, said she was ‘so stoked for our winner’.
‘(We) wish him all the very best with his prize,’ she added.
Ten Aussies won $62,689.10 each after splitting the division two pool while 139 division three winners walked away with $5330.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 418 people so far in 2024.
In the 2024 financial year there were 292 division one winning Saturday Lotto tickets totalling more than $436million, which created 158 millionaires across the country.
