Cop drama fans will now be able to stream the hit 1990s show Homicide: Life on the Street on Peacock.
The Emmy Award-winning series that ran on NBC from 1993 to 1999 became available to stream for the first time last month.
Issues with music rights had prevented viewers from streaming the popular police procedural until now.
‘Artists deserve to be paid for their work earning money for corporations on various platforms,’ David Simon, author of the novel Homicide: A Year on the Killing Street, told TV Line.
Peacock also added the show’s 2000 television film and series finale, Homicide: The Movie.

Homicide: Life on the Street was originally based on Simon’s 1991 novel.
It chronicled the lives of hardworking detectives in the Baltimore Police Department’s homicide unit.
Two of its notable stars were the late actors Andre Braugher and Richard Belzer.
Braugher portrayed the brilliant but arrogant Detective Frank Pembleton, often alienated himself from his other team members.
His portrayal of Detective Pembleton was considered his breakout role, and he starred in the show for six seasons.
Belzer portrayed Detective John Munch – the clever and cynical homicide unit member who weathered four failed marriages and bad breakups.
Belzer was one of the show’s four stars who starred in all seven seasons.
The show also starred Clark Johnson as the goofy but serious Detective Meldrick Lewis, Kyle Secor as the emotionally invested Detective Tim Bayliss, and Yaphet Kotto as the unit’s demanding but protective Lieutenant Gee Giardello.

Braugher and Belzer portrayed fan-favorite characters in other cop shows after Homicide: Life on the Street wrapped.
Braugher played Captain Raymond Holt in the NBC comedy series Brooklyn Nine-Nine for eight seasons.
He landed several award nominations for his portrayal, four being Primetime Emmys for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.
Belzer continued to play his cynical Homicide: Life on the Street character on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and starred on the show for 15 seasons.
Detective Munch was considered a mentor to Detective Olivia Benson (played by Mariska Hargitay), and was the longtime partner of Fin Tutuola (played by Ice-T).
His character eventually became a sergeant, and after leaving the show as a series regular, he made multiple guest appearances.
Belzer won a People’s Choice Award for Favorite Scene Stealing Star.

Viewers have taken to social media to express their enjoyment of watching the show since it became available on Peacock.
‘I’m rewatching Homicide Life on the Street, from the 90s, one of my favorite series. Nothing recent has done anything for me,’ one user wrote on X.
Another added: ‘Homicide: Life on the Street: the show nobody else was watching… Never bettered by anything else since.’
The user also praised its ‘wonderful dialogue’ and ‘amazing cast of characters.’
However, some had a problem with original music being replaced.
‘Love that homicide: life on the street is now streaming on peacock but sure don’t like that the majority of the music has been switched out,’ one critic posted on X.
‘I get the licensing issues but come on… Some of the replacements are really poor choices.’
