Former President Barack Obama’s post praising Joe Biden spectacularly backfired after many claimed Obama actually helped convince Biden to drop out of the 2024 presidential election.
Obama extolled his former vice president’s achievements just moments after Biden gave his farewell address on Wednesday night.
‘Four years ago, in the middle of a pandemic, we needed a leader with the character to put politics aside and do what was right. That’s what Joe Biden did,’ Obama wrote in a post on X.
‘At a time when our economy was reeling, he drove what would become the world’s strongest recovery – with 17million new jobs, historic wage gains and lower health care costs.
‘He passed landmark legislation to rebuild our nation’s infrastructure and address the threat of climate change.
‘I’m grateful to Joe for his leadership, his friendship and his lifetime of service to this country we love,’ the former president concluded.
But other X users were quick to point out that Obama helped orchestrate Biden’s ouster.
‘Loved him so much you pushed [him] out of the race,’ one user joked.

‘Please never interfere in our democratic primaries again,’ a self-described Democratic Socialist added.
Author Peachy Keenan also accused Obama of covering up the president’s declining mental acuity.
‘You covered up his decline and perpetrated a massive fraud on the country by refusing to tell us the truth,’ she accused the 44th president, pointing to remarks Democrats made following the president’s disastrous debate performance against now President-elect Donald Trump.
‘You will always be remembered as the biggest liar to ever occupy that office,’ Keenan said.
Many top Democrats expressed concerns with Biden’s chance of winning re-election following the debate over the summer, when the president was seen slack-jawed and consistently losing his train of thought.
As concern grew, Obama reportedly expressed his concerns that Biden’s path to victory in the presidential election greatly diminished.
Some of his former aides then started commissioning polls and lobbying Democratic donors to withhold their funds from Biden’s campaign in a Democratic coup.
By the end of July, Biden succumbed to the pressure and dropped out of the race, endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris to succeed him as the Democratic nominee.

But Harris would go on to lose the race to Trump, who is set to take office next week.
With only days left in the White House, Biden used his farewell address on Wednesday to deliver ominous warnings about his successor and the wealthy allies in his inner circle.
‘I want to warn the country of some things that give me great concern. And this is a dangerous concern. And that’s the dangerous concentration of power in the hands of a very few ultra wealthy people. And the dangerous consequences if their abuse of power is left unchecked,’ he said.
‘Today, an oligarchy is taking shape in America of extreme wealth, power and influence that threatens our entire democracy, our basic rights, the freedoms and the fair shot for everyone to get ahead,’ he added, in a reference to the billionaire advisers to Trump, which include adviser Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, who visited Mar-a-Lago last week.

Biden opened his speech from the Resolute Desk by taking credit for the Gaza ceasefire deal that will end the war in Hamas and going back over the accomplishments from his four years in office.
He did not mention Trump by name in his 20 minute speech, but said he ‘wished the incoming administration’s success because I want America to succeed.’
‘That’s why I have held my duty to ensure a peaceful and orderly transition of power, to ensure we lead by the power of our example.
‘I have no doubt that America is in a position to continue to succeed.’
