alert-–-now-davina-mccall-wants-a-dating-show…-for-grandparents-–-just-months-after-itv-jokingly-announced-the-idea-as-an-april-foolAlert – Now Davina McCall wants a dating show… for grandparents – just months after ITV jokingly announced the idea as an April Fool

It’s the popular reality TV series described as ‘Love Island for the middle-aged’. But now dating show My Mum, Your Dad is set to go one step further by having a version for grandparents.

Presenter Davina McCall, 56, who was behind the idea for ITV to make My Mum, Your Dad, is pitching the idea for an OAP version to the channel’s bosses.

A television source told The Mail on Sunday: ‘Davina has been talking about it and she thinks it would be a great, lovely idea. After all, My Mum, Your Dad was her idea.

‘ITV are looking at it, it would be such wonderful TV. Love Island for the middle-aged seemed a bit of a push but it has been fantastic so why can’t there be one for older people?’

It comes after ITV first announced the idea as an April Fool – but fans were so enthralled with the concept that it could now become a real show. One wrote on X, formerly Twitter: ‘My mum is 80 and looking for love and companionship. So hard to find companionship later in life.’

The latest episode was a rollercoaster of emotions for the single mum who began the show in floods of tears when discussing her fear of rejection but things soon started looking up.

Kicking off another day at the retreat with some swimming and a run, the singletons later headed out on dates and enjoyed a rodeo-themed party.

Discussing their romantic interests the contestants broke off into smaller groups, with Jenny catching up with her pal Paul.

Admitting that she was scared to ask Danny on a date, she became emotional and said it could be down to her ‘fear of rejection.’

Elsewhere, Davina caught up with the kids in the bunker who decided that Jenny should be the one to enjoy a date, in hopes she would feel more confident.

They also chose Andy and Christian, as they ‘wanted to see more of them’, with the three having free rein over who would join them.
