Nigel Farage’s girlfriend has suggested that the producers of I’m A Celebrity are editing the show in a way that makes it look like he’s falling out with his campmates.
Laure Ferrari, who went public about being the arch Brexiteer’s long-term partner last week, said she thinks his fellow celebrities are actually ‘really nice to him’.
There have been number of high profile bust-ups between the politician-turned-TV presenter and YouTuber Nella Rose while in the jungle about racism and cultural appropriation.
Despite this, as well as an argument with Fred Sirieix about Brexit, Ms Ferrari told GB News she thinks her lover is having a good time with his campmates.
She added that while she sees Nella as a ‘snowflake’ and Fred as ‘annoying’, Nigel has ‘made peace’ with them and seems ‘very content’ in the n rainforest.
Ms Ferrari said she ‘feels sorry’ for Nella Rose after the YouTuber argued with Nigel Farage about cultural appropriation
Nigel’s lover said she felt he was having a good time in the jungle and that he was ‘in his element’
Ms Ferrari, who had kept her life with Nigel a closely guarded secret for years and encouraged him to go on I’m a Celebrity, says she thinks Nigel is having fun and is ‘in his element’ on the programme.
In an interview with GB News the suggested that the 44-year-old suggested the rows with other people shown on ITV weren’t the full story.
She said: ‘I think his campmates are really good, really nice to him. I know that sometimes with the edit you may think ‘oh, they keep having a go at him’.
‘I don’t believe that for one second he would look so relaxed and happy if his campmates were picking on him everyday.
‘So I think there’s quite a camaraderie that you don’t really see on screen.’
She added: ‘He looks very very relaxed, very content, in his element – he’s an outdoorsy person.’
A spokesperson for the show told : ‘We’re a 60-75 minute Entertainment show. It is always our intention to produce a show that is a fair and accurate representation of life in camp.’
The French woman has held back on her thoughts about the series or the other celebrities though, telling the outlet that she felt ‘sorry’ for Nella Rose after blazing arguments with Nigel.
On Tuesday night’s episode, the pair had a terse exchange about cultural appropriation in which ended with Nella branding Nigel as ‘ignorant’ and ‘deluded’ before refusing to speak to him.
And last week, Nella claimed that black people ‘don’t like’ Nigel Farage in a tense row where she also called him ‘anti-immigrant’.
In the argument, she said: ‘I’m one of them’ – a nod to her birth in Belgium to Congolese parents before arriving in the UK in 2009.
Nigel asked her: ‘Who told you that?’, to which Nella replied: ‘The internet’, prompting the politician to exclaim: ‘Oh, well there we are then it must be true’.
Nella asked: ‘So everyone hates you for no reason? Not that everyone hates you, that was so bad. Sorry.’
In a row with Nigel, Nella Rose claimed that black people ‘don’t like’ him for his views on immigration
Ms Ferrari said she felt Nigel wasn’t falling out with his campmates to quite the extent that appeared to be seen on the show
Nigel – who has previously denied being racist – replied: ‘You can disagree with somebody, but to chuck around accusations the way they’ve been chucked around is grossly unfair. Anti-immigrant, right? No, no, all I’ve said is we cannot go on with the numbers coming to Britain that are coming.’
Nella then said: ‘It must be! OK, but then why don’t black people like you?’ but Nigel hit back with: ‘If you came with me through South London, you’d be astonished.’
The row unfolded in front of EastEnders star Danielle Harold in the washing area of the camp, who then tried to cut the ice by saying: ‘I didn’t expect to get involved in a full blown political debate. I only came for a bubble bath.’
Nella said to Nigel: ‘My main point was that we’ve got into this jungle and I really like you and I want to know why everyone hated you.
‘We don’t have to come to a common ground. You probably like a lot of things that I don’t like. And I probably like a lot of things that you don’t like…we can have these conversations.’
The pair ended their exchange by ‘agreeing to disagree’ on their views, with Nella noting that they ‘don’t have to come to a common ground.’
Ms Ferrari said she she felt Nigel had dealt ‘very well’ with the criticism from Nella, branding her a ‘snowflake.
She said: ‘I feel sorry for Nella, I think she epitomises that snowflake generation where they are taught that they should feel offended by every little thing.
‘It’s not a good place to be when you’re offended and upset all the time, it’s not very nice. I think he has been very gentle with her and that’s the sort of man he is.
‘Maybe ITV or other people were expecting him to be a bit more punchy and bit more aggressive, but he has lots of patience. He understands people and he actually understands this generation of people very well.’
She added that she had been ‘annoyed’ by her countryman Fred Sirieix after he attempted to take Nigel to task for his support of Brext.
The Frenchman previously asked the former UKIP leader to name the positives of the Brexit vote, which Nigel promptly declared were ‘liberation’, ‘taking back control’ and ‘self-government’.
However, Fred interrupted to say: ‘Don’t make me laugh!’
Speaking in the Bush Telegraph, Nigel said ‘Fred can’t help himself occasionally’ and admitted the two of them were never going to agree.
Ms Ferrari was angered by the exchange, saying: ‘ I’m French myself and I was like “isn’t it a bit rude?”
Laure didn’t hold back as she GB News that Nella: ‘epitomises that snowflake generation where they are told that they should be offended by every little thing’
Discussing the disagreement between Fred and Nigel Laure explained that Fred’s anti-Brexit views angered her, especially as she is also French
Nigel has created a bit of a name for himself in camp after recently stripping completely naked on a number of occasions, leaving his fellow campmates stunned
‘To come from a different country and lecturing the British electorate about the way the British people voted in 2016.
‘How would I feel being in France if an English man or a German person, even worse, came and said “you voted badly, shame on you”?
‘I just think it’s out of place. But to be fair with Fred he made peace with Nigel, he shared a couple of jokes and that was it.’
She explained that compared to the enemies, attacks and death threats Nigel has already faced throughout his political career, Fred is the least of his problems and their heated discussions won’t faze him.
Nigel has created a bit of a name for himself in camp after recently stripping completely naked on a number of occasions, leaving his fellow campmates stunned.
And Ms Ferrari admitted that she had in fact watched these scenes with none other than Nigel’s mother.
She said: ‘We giggled because honestly at the end of the day it’s just, a behind, it’s just a bottom and it’s clean.’
Ms Ferrari finally spoke out about her and Nigel’s relationship with as she revealed she believes the politician can win it.
‘I really believe Nigel can win. He will be a good campmate. He is extremely tolerant of people’s little ways, and that will gain him support from the public.’
If ‘tolerant’ doesn’t necessarily sound like the Farage we all know (and some love to hate), petite Laure is standing by the man 15 years her senior – even if that means watching as his bare bottom is shown to millions of viewers in the open-sided jungle shower.
‘Nigel has a great bottom, what’s wrong with that?’ asked his lover, ‘If you’ve got it, flaunt it!’
