Fans are split over the future of Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson, after he threw a contender for ‘worst interception of the year’ against the Bears.
The Colts did manage to get over the line with a 21-16 win over Chicago, but second-year QB Richardson raised eyebrows when he followed up a 50-yard completion with a remarkable short-range interception.
Fans were left baffled by the throw, with many claiming he is a bust after a difficult start to the year. He was under center for two defeats to start the year, and then even in the Colts win, still produced some worrying moments.
Taking to social media, former player-turned-analyst Emmanuel Acho wrote: ‘Anthony Richardson is going to take years off of Colts fans’ lives.
‘Watch these two plays. How in the heck do these two plays occur just seconds apart. HOW?! I’d be furious as a fan.’

Richardson has already thrown a remarkable five interceptions through three games, including three in the Week 2 defeat in Green Bay.
After the latest mis-throw, one fan wrote that he is ‘melting down right now’, while another added: ‘Richardson misses too many lay-ups.’
One also explained: ‘Anthony Richardson can complete passes that 99% of NFL QBs cannot complete. Anthony Richardson cannot complete passes that 99% of NFL QBs can complete.’

Speaking after the Week 3 win, Richardson himself admitted the quarterback play needs to improve.
He told NFL Network: ‘The quarterback play has to become way better. I’m being a hard critic on myself. I keep turning the ball over and my team doesn’t need that.
‘The defense played great, my O-line played great, I just got to get in there and step up and play better.’
