Netflix fans have slated a horror movie so terrible their ‘eyes are twitching’ and rage ‘why am I watching?!’ as the film climbs the charts despite its appalling Rotten Tomatoes score.
American film Tarot, starring Mean Girls’ Avantika Vandanapu, was released to cinemas in May, and was a box office success, grossing $49million against a $9million budget.
Subsequently acquired by Netflix, Tarot debuted inside the top-10 most watched films on the platform.
Tarot follows a group of college students who, after using a strange Tarot deck, begin to gruesomely die one by one and must uncover the deck’s mystery before time runs out.
Though commercially successful, Tarot is a ratings disaster and viewers flocked to X, formerly Twitter, to complain of its quality.

The supernatural horror was distributed by Sony Pictures and directed by Spenser Cohen and Anna Halberg.
It was produced by Leslie Morgenstein, Scott Glassgold, and Elysa Koplovitz Dutton.
Leslie has also produced the Sisterhood Of The Travelling Pants film series and Nicholas Galitzine’s romantic drama Purple Hearts, also on Netflix.
Avantika, 19, told USA Today of her decision to take on Tarot: ‘My mom was super into astrology growing up, and I grew up very much into the occult and astrology.’ She added: ‘Horror is my favorite genre.’
It was both Avantika’s first American horror film and the first movie she shot as an adult.
She learned she had been cast in her breakthrough film Mean Girls after a long, stressful day of filming Tarot.
Avantika revealed the hardest part of making Tarot were the scenes in which she flees for her life.
‘I’m really not a runner,’ she laughed, but said she would still ‘absolutely love’ to do more work in the genre.
Tarot also stars Jacob Batalon (pictured), known for playing the best friend to Tom Holland’s Peter Parker/Spider-Man
