A war of words has erupted in one of Sydney’s most expensive suburbs after two wild parties kept one local awake.

Fed-up resident Sam, who is in his late 30s, dropped off 300 letters to his neighbours in the affluent harbourside suburb of Vaucluse in Sydney’s east, urging them to file police complaints about the parties.

In the letter, which was shared to Reddit on Monday, Sam claimed he asked the hosts to turn down the music. However, instead of complying, the hosts continued partying until the early hours of the morning.

‘You may have noticed loud parties in the area on both Friday and Saturday nights,’ Sam wrote in the letter.

‘If you didn’t hear them, then consider yourself lucky – you either have a well insulated house and/or are a deep sleeper.

‘On both nights I requested of the occupants that the volume be lowered. On Saturday in particular, this had, if anything, the opposite of the desired effect.

‘The music, as well as singing/shouting and general raucous behaviour, was loudest between 12-2.30am.’

The fed-up neighbour, named Sam, labelled the hosts as 'miscreants' and described their behaviour as 'selfish and disgraceful', claiming to file a police report in relation to the parties

Sam described the hosts’ behaviour as ‘selfish and disgraceful’ – conduct he claims is a reflection of the self-centred mentality of the younger generation.

He added the letter was not some ‘old angry guy yelling for kids to get off his lawn’ but a call for common decency.

‘This sort of behaviour is selfish and disgraceful. It’s symptomatic of the degradation of values and the utter self-entitlement and disregard for the wellbeing of anyone but oneself,’ he wrote.

‘A narcissistic, ‘self as the centre of the universe’ mentality – which is becoming increasingly prevalent amongst the younger generation/s.’

‘This is not the case of the old angry guy yelling at kids to get off his lawn. How about just a bit of common decency? Consideration, kindness, empathy, respect, compassion, sensitivity; you know, decency. It used to be a thing.’

The resident added he rang the police, as the legal cut-off for music is 12am, but they were unable to attend due to ‘higher priority calls elsewhere’.

KIIS FM breakfast presenter Kyle Sandilands, who lives near the party-house, said he received a letter and could even hear the music from across the water.

Sandilands and his co-host Jackie’O Henderson spoke with Sam on Sunday about the two-night party bender.

‘It was a little out-of-control,’ Sam said. ‘It used to happen a lot, but it would end at about midnight, but they’re ending a fair bit later these days.

‘I’d like to say the matter with that particular household is effectively resolved,’ Sam said.

‘The father of the household got in contact with me, we had a brief exchange. It wasn’t an ideal exchange but I felt at the end it was basically resolved.

The radio hosts also spoke with one of the party hosts, 23-year-old Jordan, who apologised to his neighbours on air.

Jordan explained he threw the impromptu parties, which had no more than 50 guests at each bash, w

The 23-year-old said he found out about the letter after his friends sent him copies  ‘having a laugh’.

He felt as though Sam could dealt with the situation in a more ‘mature way’ but the issue was resolved after Sam and his dad spoke.

‘I only found out about this letter because all my neighbours actually sent it to me having a laugh,’ Sam said.

‘It was wrong in that aspect but the way he came across and the way he wanted to tone it done was incorrect. He could have handled it in a much more mature way but it’s resolved now on our end.

‘He (dad) was like “boys will be boys”. I know what I did was wrong in hosting it a bit too late but it was in the silly season, end of the year and it is what it is.

‘I do want to say sorry to all my neighbours as I did disrupt them.’

Jackie O asked if Jordan would like to speak to Sam, to which Jordan replied: ‘No, not at all.’

‘We spoke briefly. I don’t want to have any more interaction with that guy. It’s all good.’
