Three people are in a critical condition after a horror crash between a car and a B-double truck on a major highway.
The smash happened at the D-Aguilar Highway near the Nanango Tarong Road intersection, in Nanango, northwest of Brisbane before 6am on Thursday.
The male driver of the semi-trailer, aged in his 50s, suffered minor injuries and was rushed by paramedics to Kingaroy Hospital in a stable condition.
The highway has been closed in both directions south of Nanango and motorists have been told to avoid the area.
The B-double truck was found down an embankment near the highway when emergency services arrived at the scene.
The cab of the truck, which is where the driver of the heavy vehicle sits, had rolled over near a ditch following the collision.
The multiple trailers being towed by the truck managed to remain on the highway.
Dozens of police and emergency services vehicles were seen at the intersection and the vehicles had blocked off a part of the road. as search and rescue efforts were taking place.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman told Daily Mail three people sustained life threatening injuries.
The spokeswoman confirmed the truck driver did sustain lacerations and was taken to hospital to be treated for his injuries.
It is not yet known whether the three people were travelling in the car.
