My Big Fat Fabulous Life star Whitney Way Thore says many people have asked her about if she would use Ozempic amid the growing popularity of the medication – and speculation she has shed pounds as a result.
Thore, 40, told Us Weekly on Tuesday, ‘With the Ozempic craze and everything like that, I got questioned a lot.
‘It’s funny, simultaneously, people are insisting I must have had weight loss surgery. And then, other people are saying, “She hasn’t lost a pound.”‘
The TLC personality, who has lost around 100 pounds, was noncommittal when it came to whether or not she would use the medication.
‘I’m not saying that I wouldn’t necessarily, I don’t know,’ the Greensboro, North Carolina native told the outlet as she promoted the 12th season of the series, which initially hit the air in January of 2015.

The TLC personality spoke on the topic amid the growing popularity of the medication
Thore, who has more than 1.3 million Instagram followers, told the outlet of Ozempic: ‘It’s not something that I’ve really thought about or have felt, like, the medical need for, but it’s not something that I would say, “I would never do.”‘
Thore said that while the opinions on Ozempic remain ‘nuanced within the body-positive community,’ she doesn’t feel strongly about the topic in any direction.

‘I personally have no hard and fast opinion about it,’ Thore said. ‘I think people have the right to do whatever they want to do with their own bodies.’
Thore told the outlet she reserves judgment on the topic as far as what others want to do.
‘And as a fat person who’s been fat my entire adult life, I would never shame or criticize another fat person for choosing to do something that makes their life easier,’ she said.
Thore explained the details of her weight-loss journey to the outlet, as she said she lost 50 pounds ‘years ago,’ and an additional 50 pounds following the death of her mother Barbara ‘Babs’ Thore in December of 2022 at the age of 76.
She said that speculation from social media over her weight-loss program doesn’t mark ‘a huge change’ from the status quo: ‘What it shows is that people on the Internet, they see what they want to see and they project themselves onto you.
‘I could post something today and half the comments would say, “Oh, my gosh, you’re skinny; you’re literally skinny now,” even though I’m almost 300 pounds. And then the other half of the comments would say, “Oh, my gosh, she’s as big as she’s ever been.”‘

Thore told the outlet that she hates people making comments about her physical appearance, ‘because it is literally just whatever people want to see that day, that time, that picture.
‘People constantly tell me, “Oh, you’ve lost more weight.” And I say, “No, I haven’t. I weigh myself every day. I can tell you exactly what I’ve weighed [at] every point in my entire life.”‘
Thore said that while she’s not ‘actively trying to lose weight,’ she weighs herself everyday to monitor her symptoms with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
‘I kind of track based on that,’ Thore said. ‘It’s just a habit, really, [and] it’s not for any reason. It doesn’t make me feel any kind of way.’
Thore opened up on the ups and downs that come with appearing on the long-running reality series.
‘There are so many positives that come from doing the show,’ she said, ‘unfortunately, it’s often clouded by the really scary, hard and negative things.
‘I know that My Big Fat Fabulous Life has changed people’s lives all over the world, and it’s a gift to people … I can’t imagine just taking that away because people are crazy on the Internet.’

‘She said that the loves the series and ‘what it’s done for people’ and ‘body positivity.
‘So even though it’s really difficult, I would not change it.’
