This is the moment a headphone-wearing Jason Donovan enjoys a chat with Jeremy Vine while they sit on their bikes at a busy London junction seconds before the BBC presenter accused a bus driver of ‘getting too close’ to his famous friend.

The former Neighbours star, 55, is seen removing his earphone when he sees Vine, asking: ‘Is that you Jeremy?’ The pair then enjoy a catch-up, shouting and turning to look at each other as they continuing riding down busy Oxford Street.

As Donovan tucks in closer to the curb, a London City Sightseeing bus turns the corner and brushes past the actor. Branding the driver ‘terrible’, a furious Vine calls out: ‘How can he do that? Can the bus get that close to you?’

However the footage, recorded and shared by Vine, has divided social media users.

While some argued that it was ‘scary’ and that the driver did get ‘too close’, others have slammed the pair for listening to music while cycling and distracting each other in the middle of a busy road.

The video has divided viewers. Some slammed the pair for listening to music while cycling and distracting each other in the middle of a busy road

Donovan appeared unbothered, commenting instead on Vine’s ‘great helmet’ that has a camera attached on top to catch careless drivers across the capital.

Reacting to the video, broadcaster Dawn Neesom said: ‘Surreal on so many levels.’ Another said: ‘Never seen a man care less about almost being hit by a London bus. Fair play Jason.’

Others, however, criticised the pair for distracting each other on the roads.

One said: ‘Rather than proceed, you have a chat, which delays him [the bus driver] making progress. Watch that back, I see a cyclist distracted by another wearing a long camera on his head, they decide to chat among the 20-ton moving buses. One distracts the other slowing him down then bus nearly hits him.’

Another added: ‘Chatting to each other, and not concentrating, Donovan with earphones in, can’t hear anything, holds the bus up for no reason, realises too late, but pulls over to let the bus pass, so what does the bus do, wait till you’ve both finished your “famous mates” chat?’

Vine and Donovan then joke about the time the radio star spotted the actor while riding his penny farthing near Kensington Palace.

Vine has regularly shared footage of his experiences cycling in the city on social media

Last month the BBC star caught a foreign diplomat off-guard using a mobile phone and bragging ‘I don’t have a licence’ as he travelled through busy traffic in west London

Vine has regularly shared footage of his experiences cycling in the city on social media, dealing with road rage from drivers and near misses.

Last month the BBC star caught a foreign diplomat off-guard using a mobile phone and bragging ‘I don’t have a licence’ as he travelled through busy traffic in west London.

The video shows Vine cycling down Kensington High Street, just past the gated entrance of Kensington Palace, when he spots a driver using his mobile phone.

‘Look at this guy, he doesn’t even see me,’ says Vine.

He catches up with the man, and shouts ‘six points on your licence’ to which the man responds: ‘Good boy! I don’t have a licence’.

But the driver shows no interest in talking further and drives away.

A search of the man’s registration number shows the vehicle is from Oman. Vine also zooms in on the ‘D’ on the registration plate, commenting: ‘I see, D for diplomat.’
