This is the moment a drug dealer stopped by the police demanded they ‘put it back’ after an officer pulled a machete out from his coat.
Ajmal Saqikel, 28, can be seen on bodycam footage being searched by officers after he threw his coat over a wall as they approached.
One of the officers found five bags of cannabis from his pocket before he pulled out a machete knife from an inside pocket in Peterborough, Cambs.
Saqikel protested repeatedly: ‘Put it back man’ as the officer reads him his rights during the incident on March 17.
Further searches reveal Saqikel was carrying pepper spray and when he told the police there was nothing else, the officer replied: ‘Well you didn’t tell me about the machete or the drugs’.
It was the second time Saqikel has been arrested, after police stopped him on December 4 last year.
Police were responding to a collision on the A15 in Peterborough.
A white Peugeot van had collided with a lamppost and driver Saqikel was seen by members of the public to throw a machete in nearby bushes.
Officers found £266.50 in cash and five small bags of cannabis inside the vehicle, as well as a further 19 bags at his home in Dogsthorpe.
Saqikel was released on bail but arrested again on March 17 when he was stopped by officers, as seen in the bodyworn footage.
The officers believed ‘he was trying to hide something’ after he threw his coat over a wall as they approached, Cambridgeshire police reported.
He was found with £380 in cash on him and a can of pepper spray which is a prohibited firearm, as well as five small bags of cannabis and a machete in the coat.
Saqikel appeared at Huntingdon Law Court on August 28 where he was sentenced to 38 weeks in prison.
He admitted ‘being concerned in the supply of cannabis’, two counts of possession of a bladed article in a public place and possession of a weapon for discharge of a noxious liquid – namely pepper spray.
He must also forfeit £646.50 in cash which will be donated to Cambridge Women’s Aid.
PC Mark Mankiwskyj, who made the latest arrest, said: ‘We’re working hard to tackle drug dealing in our county as we know the impact it has on our communities and the levels of violence that so often come with it.
‘I would encourage anyone who has information about drug dealing or concerns about someone who carries a weapon to get in touch with us.’
Anyone with information about someone who carries a weapon is advised to report it via their website.
