This is the shocking moment a well-organised gang of thieves in east London brazenly steal parcels from the back of a DPD van before loading them into the back of a waiting car in broad daylight.
The incident, which took place on Monday morning in Whitebarn Lane, Dagenham, while the driver was seemingly away from his van, was caught on camera by a nearby resident.
Footage shows the doors of the white delivery van flung open and an array of parcels strewn over the road.
A thief, dressed all in black and with a balaclava, is then seen picking his way through the items.
The man carefully lifts some of the items and places them into a black Vauxhall Corsa.
A second man, also dressed the same, but wearing red gloves, hands the parcels to the first.
The van doors open slightly again and a third man emerges, wearing a black hat and jacket and grey-coloured jumper and trousers.
All three continue to pick their way through the items and load up their car using the boot and space in the rear passenger seats.
Throughout the 30-second clip, the trio seem unconcerned that they will be spotted at any moment.
A statement from Met Police said: ‘On Monday, 9 December police were called to Whitebarn Lane, Dagenham at 10.45am following reports of a theft from a motor vehicle.
‘Officers attended the scene and carried out all relevant enquiries.
‘The victim was not injured.
‘At this early stage, there have been no arrests.’
The robbery occurred amid a surge of deliveries this month as people take advantage of Black Friday deals and Christmas bargains online.
In September, a similar incident occurred in Dagenham, east London when thieves raided a DPD van and took off with smaller, high-value items such as electronics and clothing in a robbery that lasted 60 seconds.
The two men, one clutching a screwdriver, were seen wearing masks up to their noses as they hurled the packages into the boot of their Mini.
The driver, wearing a hi-vis vest and appearing to hold a hammer, watched on helplessly as the robbers took off with the haul.
Footage of the incident was filmed by a terrified woman who saw the raid outside her house.
She can be heard screaming ‘stop what you are doing, call the police, call the police’ as the thieves fearlessly took parcel after parcel, discarding ones they didn’t want in the middle of the road.
The robbers, appearing unbothered by the cries to stop, worked as a production line to steal as much as they could before jumping into their Mini and speeding off, tyres screeching.
