Three young children subject to an amber alert have been found at a service station.

Police had been urgently seeking public help to find the three children, aged three, five and six, who were last seen with their biological father on the Gold Coast.

The children were spotted at a 7/11 in Mount Warren Park, south of Brisbane about 7am on Monday.

Detective Acting Superintendent Mark White said police received information the children were in a Hyundai hatchback about 30-40 metres from the service station.

‘And they’ve walked to the 7/11 which is nearby and obviously the employee there has contacted police,’ he told reporters.

‘They will be medically assessed because the information we have is that they were in the vehicle overnight by themselves.’

The father of the children who had been with police since about 10.15pm on Sunday has been arrested and charged on unrelated matters, Supt White said.

The 27-year-old is expected to appear in court on Monday.

Supt White said there was no issue with the father having custody of the children.

Police are still appealing for anyone who may have seen the blue Hyundai hatchback registration 205SKW travelling between the Gold Coast and Logan areas between 4.30pm and 10pm on Sunday to contact them.
