Mindy Kaling had a very special day in Hollywood on Tuesday afternoon as the actress received her star on the Walk Of Fame.
And the 45-year-old Never Have I Ever writer had someone close by her side: actor BJ Novak, her boyfriend from 2004 until 2007.
During her speech she said that Novak is an ‘important and integral’ part of her family.
The two have said for years they are just pals these days, but they looked like much more than friends when he planted a kiss on her during her ceremony that took place on Hollywood Boulevard. He also gave her a big hug and held onto her arm.
No one seems to believe the are just buddies.

Kaling rarely mentions her family, but she made a point to say BJ is a part of it on Tuesday.
She has daughters Anne, 12 months, and Katherine, seven, and son Spencer, four. Kaling has never shared who the father of her children is, but many suspect it is BJ.
Neither BJ nor Mindy seem to have moved on with other partners after their split, which is another suggestion they are romantic and not platonic.
Kaling has said in the past the baby daddy rumor does not ‘bother’ her.
Mindy has also been in the news for the past two years for her dramatic weight loss as she seems to have shed at least 80lbs.
BJ had a lot to say on Tuesday in Hollywood.
Novak wore a light brown toned suit as he sang her praises to the crowd that included Macaulay Culkin and Brenda Song.
‘Mindy respects and understands [fame] in a very intuitive way because in addition to being a brilliant and wildly successful showrunner, an incredible mother of three, a deep and caring daughter and friend and mentor to so many,’ he shared, via People.
‘You’d be on the walk of talent if they had one,’ he added.
‘You’d be on the walk of friendship. You’d be on the walk of compassionate parenthood, but let’s face it all of these would be terrible field trips, so here you are instead, very deservedly, a person who means so much to so many on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.’

The star of The Office and The Mindy Project – who graduated from Dartmouth in 2001 with a bachelor’s degree in playwriting – looked sensational on Tuesday.
The actress, who is of Indian heritage, wore a sleeveless black dress with a poofy hem.
She added diamond jewelry, such as a necklace, bracelet and ring. The earrings and one of her bracelets were by LabLove.
Her black point heels also had sparkly stones on the ankle strap, tying the sophisticated look together.
This comes just before her new project, Running Point, is due to pop up on Netflix.
The show stars Kate Hudson as the newly appointed president of the Los Angeles Waves, one of the most storied professional basketball franchises, after a scandal forces her brother to resign.
Kaling was hired as a writer and performer for the NBC comedy ‘The Office’ in 2004 when she was 24.

In 2010, Kaling became the first woman of color to receive an outstanding writing for a comedy series Emmy nomination.

Kaling starred as obstetrician/gynecologist Mindy Lahiri in the romantic comedy The Mindy Project. It ran on Fox from 2012-15 and on Netflix from 2015-17.
She co-created the comedy-drama Never Have I Ever, which she said was based ‘in the spirit of my childhood’ and streamed on Netflix from 2020 to 2023.
She was also a co-creator of the comedy The Sex Lives of College Girls,’which completed it third season on HBO Max last month.
