Michael Strahan’s daughter Isabella has joyfully returned to college after taking a leave of absence amid her cancer battle.

The 19-year-old soldiered through multiple surgeries and months of agonizing treatment, including chemotherapy, to treat a rare brain tumor.

Last month, she was able to triumphantly announce on her YouTube channel that she was ‘cancer-free’ after undergoing her final MRI.

This week she moved back to the University Of Southern California with the help of her mother, Michael’s ex-wife Jean Muggli.

Isabella broke the news by cheerfully posting a selfie with Jean to her Insta Stories, writing: ‘Back at USC’ in the school’s red and gold colors.

She treated the camera to a glowing smile, looking in the full flush of health as she prepared to pick up her education where she left off.

Her post came less than a month after she revealed she was finally cancer-free, waving goodbye to frequent hospital visits.

She was a college freshman when she was diagnosed with medulloblastoma in October after doctors found a tumor ‘bigger than a golf ball’ growing at the back of her brain, which caused her to suffer ‘excruciating headaches’ and vomiting.

Isabella documented her cancer battle on her YouTube channel, where last month, she shared she had undergone another major surgery after ringing the bell to mark the end of her chemotherapy treatment.

She later took to YouTube to share another update as she delightedly revealed she was cancer-free after having undergone her last MRI.

The daughter of the 52-year-old GMA host shared that ‘everything was great’ before admitting that she was excited to go back to her normal life and prepare to head back to college.

At the beginning of the video, the teen opened up about the excruciating pain she was in after having her chemo port removed earlier.

She said: ‘My side hurts a lot. It feels like I got stabbed. I was like, “Oh it doesn’t hurt that much.” I think it’s because all of the stuff wore off… I can’t stand up straight.”

‘I also feel like the tube was going into my heart because my heart started cramping. I don’t know if that’s supposed to happen but… not enjoyable. It definitely doesn’t feel great.’

She then revealed that she was set to have an MRI that would reveal whether she was still battling the disease.

Before heading to her MRI, Isabella and her mom headed to Waffle House, which the 19-year-old branded a ‘tradition’ before heading to doctor appointments.

During the vlog, Isabella shared that she was headed to her MRI – adding that following the scan she would have a meeting with her doctor.

Once she arrived to the hospital, doctors put another IV into her arm.

‘They put another one in and I could cry,’ she said as she showed the camera her bandaged arm.

Following her MRI, Isabella and her mom, Jean Muggli, took a trip to Whole Foods to get some fruit.

‘Hey vlog and we’re all done. Tomorrow, we have a meeting to go over the scan and that’s it,’ she said.

The video then cut to a clip of her at her last doctor’s appointment before showing the college student afterwards in the car.

‘It was a great, great scan, everything was clear. Cancer-free and everything is great. I don’t have another doctor’s appointment until October,’ she said.

Isabella admitted that she was sad she wouldn’t be seeing her doctors for a while.

She added: ‘I miss my doctors already and everyone who’s helped me because they’re all so nice.

‘I feel like I’m just saddened today knowing that I wasn’t gonna be going back for awhile because I love them so much. So, that was my last hospital vlog until October!’

Isabella assured her fans that they would see her again – adding that she would share her college move-in day with them.

Last month she underwent another surgery amid her brain cancer battle – one month after she revealed that she had finished her treatment.

In a video entitled Road to Recovery, she explained that she was headed back to the hospital for a new procedure, but this was one that she was ‘really excited’ about.

Just weeks after ringing the chemo bell to signal the end of her treatment, Isabella marked another major milestone – getting her chemo port removed – and she documented the entire thing.

Isabella was then seen arriving at the hospital and checking out her room, which was themed like the Disney Pixar film Inside Out; she was accompanied by her mom.

Another clip showed her being wheeled into surgery as a slew of medical professionals lined the halls and cheered her on.

She then moved the camera to let her viewers see a 'big bump' on her stomach, where she explained doctors 'poked her every time' she underwent treatment

She grinned from ear to ear as she raised her arms up and did a little dance.

It then cut to Isabella laying in bed after the surgery was finished.

She touched her neck where the tube used to be and admitted, ‘It’s so crazy to feel [my neck] and there not be a huge thing [there].’

And while she admitted that she was in some slight pain, she was still in high spirits.

Isabella has previously opened up about some of the terrible symptoms she has endured as a result of her chemotherapy.

At the time, she said ‘everything’ hurt and it felt like she was ‘having a heart attack.’

‘My eyes are strained, they hurt to look to the sides. My whole mouth feels like I got one giant root canal,’ she continued.

‘Every single tooth, just ripped out and not even surgically put back in. My jaw hurts, the bottom of my tongue hurts. It hurts when I gulp water.’

Isabella explained on GMA in January that she started suffering from ‘excruciating headaches’ during her freshman year in college.

‘I noticed something was off since probably September,’ she shared. ‘Like October 1, that’s when I definitely noticed headaches, nausea, [I] couldn’t walk straight.’

Initially, Isabella said she mistook her symptoms for vertigo. Michael confessed that when his daughter shared her symptoms with him, he never considered that they might be indications that she was battling cancer, particularly because she was just 18 and was so ‘young, strong and healthy.’

However, on October 25, Isabella said her condition took a severe decline, with the teenager revealing that she began throwing up blood soon after waking up.

Joking that she thought, ‘This probably isn’t good,’ Isabella revealed that she texted her sister to tell her what was going on – and she then ‘notified the whole family.’

According to Michael, he was told about his daughter's brain tumor before she was, explaining that he 'doesn't remember much' about the moment he learned of her diagnosis

It was at that point that Michael said the family decided Isabella ‘really needed to go get a thorough check-up’ with a doctor, adding: ‘Thank goodness for the doctor… I feel like the doctor saved her life.’

Isabella said the doctor ‘did an EKG and other stuff,’ before sending her to another facility in order to get an MRI.

‘So I went to take [the MRI] somewhere else and then she called me and she said, “You need to head to Cedars-Sinai right now, I’m going to meet you there,”‘ the teen recalled, adding that the doctor gave her no other information about her diagnosis at the time.

Once at the hospital, Isabella was told that she had developed a ‘fast-growing four centimeter tumor in the back of her brain’ that required emergency surgery.

According to Michael, he was told about his daughter’s brain tumor before she was, explaining that he ‘doesn’t remember much’ about the moment he learned of her diagnosis, but that he just ‘remembers trying to figure out how to get to Los Angeles ASAP.’

Isabella was ultimately diagnosed with medulloblastoma, which – according to GMA – accounts for 20 per cent of all childhood brain tumors and is typically found in about 500 children each year, most commonly those between the ages of five and nine.

On October 27, one day before her 19th birthday, Isabella underwent emergency surgery to remove the tumor, with Michael stating that doctors wanted to ‘get it out as soon as possible.’

‘It sent a signal of how serious it was when they said, “Hey, you shouldn’t risk trying to put her on a plane to get her to the East Coast or another doctor. We know what it is and we should get it out as soon as possible,”‘ he recalled of his conversation with doctors.

Thankfully, doctors told the family that, although serious, they were ‘confident’ that they could treat Isabella’s cancer.

The teenager faced an uphill battle in the wake of the surgery, during which she underwent a ‘grueling month of rehab,’ which included re-learning how to walk.

Following the surgery, Isabella underwent several rounds of proton radiation therapy, which she completed just one day before she revealed her diagnosis to the world.
